🚨Salon Closing Announcement: Hi All! Kristin here, founder of Paintbucket. It is with such a heavy heart that I am officially announcing the closure of my beloved salon, which will take place on January 1st, 2025. I know that some of you have heard about the closure as early as 2 months ago, which was when I first spoke with my team about our current situation. My team and fair pay has always been my top priority so ensuring they had time to find other work after the holidays was very important to me. Over the past few weeks, hearing about the rates that other salons are willing to pay these hard working women has been very disheartening, with hourly rates as low as $12-14 per hour (way below minimum wage in NYC). There was an article written a few years ago by the NYT called The Price of Nice Nails and unfortunately that narrative still rings true today. Unfortunately, it has become nearly impossible to continue operating with rising costs while trying to compete in an industry where salons keep their service prices low at the expense of paying their staff fairly. I am eternally grateful for all of the customers that have supported us for nearly a decade and most importantly, for the wonderful staff that has made my job so easy and such a pleasure, especially as of lately.

I will be at the salon throughout all of December and can’t wait to see all of you for your final services with us. I want this to be a happy time where we celebrate all of the wonderful memories that have been created at Paintbucket. I’ll find a few days to offer fun holiday drinks and do all that I can to make this a happy holiday season, although it will be our last here at 204 Wythe Avenue.

Towards the end of the month, I will also post each of our nail artists contact information incase you’d like to continue being serviced by them whether that’s in the comfort of your home or traveling to wherever they work next.
