to be seen or unseen….
I got called out this week for being so absent on the gram! 😂
I have such a ❤️-💔 relationship with social media (in fact it leans more towards 🙄 because it is very difficult to engage with it without it activating the - the very thing we strive to dismantle in ).
However, it’s impossible to ignore because more and more it is how we choose to connect and it gives us the opportunity to connect beyond borders (literal and metaphorical).
My resistance to it has been one of my greatest teachers shining a light on my own battles with my ego.
So I’ve been using this break to consider how I want to consciously show up in this space that supports my highest purpose without being self-serving.
…for connection- yes
…for creativity- yes
…for sharing beauty that uplifts- yes
…for building awareness- yes
…for educating- maybe… but who has all the answers? Who is really qualified to give advice?
While there are many good-intentioned individuals trying to help, one of my greatest frustrations with social media is that it doesn’t lend itself to nuance (esp related to health and wellness advice). It’s great for speaking in generalities without acknowledging the uniqueness of the viewer.
I also think a lot about how not everything needs to be shared or should be shared. Constantly posting everything desecrates everything scared in our lives. There needs to be space for reflection, growth, and private transformation. ✌️

I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to attend and support the Skin Cancer Foundation Champion for Change Gala this past week. Thank you to the for building awareness and supporting skin cancer research and education.
I lost a loved one to melanoma a few years ago because she failed to notice a changing mole.
Sun protection, regular skin checks and early detection is key. AND sharing this information with friends and family is also important because it may help to save someone’s life.

There is so much waste in the beauty industry. It’s estimated that about 120 billion units of packaging is created every year by the beauty industry and most of it is not recycled.
I am so thankful that shared my recent article on and the environment.
At a time when climate change is at the forefront of our attention, it’s important to consciously examine our consumption patterns.
Here are five tips on how to mindfully navigate the skincare aisle and help minimize your carbon footprint. 👣
💆♀️Consider a consultation with a specialist if you are trying to treat a specific concern. You are more likely to see a faster improvement instead of trying different products which may not be appropriate for your skin or condition. If you have sensitive skin, ask for samples to see if your skin will tolerate the product before investing in it.
💆♀️Simplify your beauty routine. More is not better! Using multiple products just increases your chances for allergic reactions and irritation. Also, layering products may reduce their efficacy.
💆♀️Before you shop, consider why you are buying it and whether you need it. Make it a habit to buy only what you need. Do not buy larger containers unless you will use it. Many companies have created test samples or travel size containers which allow you to sample a product before you commit to buying more.
💆♀️Research and support companies who are committed to no animal testing 🐰and sustainability.
💆♀️Educate yourself about what is and is not recyclable. Find ways to reuse and recycle. , Return to Origins and TerraCycle have recycling programs, some of which give reward points for containers you bring back to recycle. We live in a time when it is so easy to have things shipped to us, but this creates more packaging 📦. Consider buying it directly whenever you can.
If you have more tips, share them ⬇️😊

Perhaps the best bday present I could ever receive!
I’ve taken so many exams throughout my life but for once I am so proud of this accomplishment. Getting this news today was a reminder of all the years of work I have put into my career to become a better doctor.
Congratulations to all my colleagues who sat for this exam.
Seriously though… stop buying s**t you don’t need. 😉😂
Be intentional with your skincare purchases.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the noise in the beauty industry.
And sales make it tempting to buy products that often can’t deliver on their promises (I know, even as a derm I get 😍 when it comes to good marketing).
As a culture we consume and create so much waste every year. And most of this ends up in landfills and waterways/oceans.
More is not better for your skin (or the environment!).
All you need is to commit to a few high yield products:
