How many layers do you need ?
Thinner is your hair, less layers you want mid-shaft to the ends.
But don’t be afraid to have some shorter one at the top. It will bring style and dimension to your look.
If you have a thicker texture, everything is possible. Just make sure you understand which kind you are getting. Is it layered on top, on the ends or all around ? Those options can make the look dramatically different.
For example, on this picture, it has been layered all around equally. It creates a fair amount of volume for a lively and playful look.

Where and precisely when are big ones that will influence the choice.
