What Happens During the Cryosurgery Keloid Removal Process?
In the first step of the cryosurgery, the keloid is sprayed with liquid nitrogen to freeze the tissue.
The patient may feel slight tingling and a distinct numbing sensation.
Next, the sprayed begins to change color, becoming red or dark and markedly swollen.
At this point the patient may need some mild pain relievers and to elevate the swollen area.
A blister will form encapsulating the keloid, and the tissue will die completely.
The blister keeps the dead tissue from causing infection, and should not be disturbed or broken. Eventually it will fall off.
The affected area will take one to three weeks to heal---
