One of my good friend's has been channeling "Fearless" as her word for 2022. How perfect that it is the Lunar Year of the Tiger. ⁠⁠
I do feel that this will be a year of strength. We have been through many changes, adapted to new norms and come out stronger. ⁠⁠

It’s with mixed emotions that I share the news that I will no longer offer Niru products. Skin care products were always a means to an end for me. Promoting self care and simple clean products has always been at the heart of my mission. An added bonus was being able to share my mom’s wisdom and my Indian heritage!
Thank you to all my wonderful customers and followers . I have received numerous heartfelt emails and messages this week. The warmth of these relationships is truly the most important accomplishment of these past years. Diwali is the celebration of victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. It is a time of family gatherings and celebration with food, lights and fireworks.
Just like kids look forward to Christmas, as a child I looked forward to Diwali. I was always excited about school holidays and the fireworks. Experiencing Diwali in India is always very special. Now that I am older, Diwali can be a bittersweet day for me. While I share in the excitement of the celebration, I am more aware of the physical distance between myself, my parents and siblings. This year I am also thinking of friends and the folks that have lost loved ones. I hope the lights of Diwali will bring peace to their hearts and a reason to celebrate the good memories.
One of my happiest memories is of visiting India with my son a few years back during Diwali. Watching my son who was 5 at that time wishing all the neighbours “Happy Diwali” in his little accent was the sweetest thing ever! I look forward to lighting the diyas tonight with the hope that they brighten my way to a life of compassion, clarity and joy!

Today was my 10 year anniversary and I am celebrating by going on a hike and brunch with my hubby tomorrow. 10 years ago we got married in a very small ceremony in Napa...little did we know then that California would eventually become our home, little did we know then that in 10 years we would both be working on our own businesses, me with Niru and my hubby launching his startup. Life has been extremely busy and work focused these past few months for both of us. A simple day spent together is going to be a luxury that we will both cherish for now. This simple celebration sums up a lot about the comfort in our relationship. I am slowly inching my roots towards him!⁠⁠
I’m still planning a 10 year anniversary trip when the time is right...The Lake palace in Jaipur is on my list :)⁠⁠

Little story how self care and beauty has evolved for me.
Back home in (Nepal) taking care of myself and how beautiful I was, was all about, “one day this amazing family will come and ask for my hand to marry their son”. Back home we had arrange marriage system, I hope it is not the same anymore . So, every self care and beauty was evolved around looking good for men but never for ourselves. That is how I felt anyway. When one family came to check me out and I heard them saying “I AM UGLY” that time just completely stripped my self worth. By the way I was only about 14/15 I think. I am glad he didn’t like me back then because I could have missed out on this amazing journey I am in NOW. 🤗

Recently, I realised what self care is all about. Once I got married and had kids, I stop caring for myself as much as I did but recently I have realised it is for My own health and well-being. If I look after myself, I am the one who will get benefit out of it. When I feel and look great in myself, I am filling up my cup and ready to share that overflowing positive energy in others.
PS I am trying to teach my daughter when she washes her face/take care of herself, it is for her own health but not to please others OR for their validation. This might be teaching her to value herself and self worth. Which I didn’t have.
All I am trying to say to all the mothers out there, you do not have to stop looking after yourself because your kids, job because you WORTH that amazing feeling, when you just wash your hair and get to blow dry. I totally get it we are so busy BUT please get some time out to make yourself feel good in yourself.
