My friend found this old photo in her garage and sent it to me a few days ago... I was at my company's (BioCell Technology) trade show booth at Expo West in 2005, and then here I am at the BioCell booth at Expo West just a couple of months ago in 2024. I am so proud and grateful for everything that has happened in between.

Funny thing is, I still feel like I'm just getting started like I did way back then... just wiser (albeit 20 years will do that to you!) and more innovative than ever.

I rarely post a pic of my mom, but here's one that I recently found (excuse the early 90's hair, makeup, and Olan Mills free photo I got from working there in high school ;)...

I remember being proud to take this picture because we didn't have many together. Growing up, I was so determined to be extremely independent that, at times, I took for granted just how much she did, even though she lived a very different life than I was trying to build. Truth is that if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have made it being a single mother, raising a young child while starting a company, and learned what unconditional love and support truly means.

She takes care of everyone around her, and puts herself last on the list, if at all. She never complains and never asks for anything. She raised us invisibly - you'd never know what it took for her to go through the struggles she had.

My most important roles in life, whether a business leader or a mom to Layla, have been built on the strength and tenacity she and my mother-figures have instilled in me, by example.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to my mom, my MIL Babs, you all... moms and mom-likes. I'll never take what you do for granted, and it drives the decisions I make on a daily basis.

Six years ago, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed January 24th The International Day of Education. This topic is especially close to my heart, as I was the first woman in my family to graduate college. Although education is a human right, I realize it is also a privilege.

As we commemorate this day, let’s make a commitment to ourselves to continue learning — whether as part of an institution or as a student in the school of life. May we strive to better ourselves daily and to continue being agents of peace and learning in our communities.

It’s not very often when you have all your general managers - from all over the world - all in one place… let alone in your office! I’m ever impressed by our team’s talent and enjoy all of our time together.

We’re planning for a successful 2024 and to kick off our world events with all the progress we’ve made for quite some time.

In a world where change seems to be the only constant, there’s no room to stand still. I have been truly inspired watching our Modere team come together through the challenges of 2023, swiftly adapting to new work cultures, and hitting productivity levels like never before. Our strong organizational culture, rooted in our core principles, has continued to be key to our success. I'm beyond proud of our team for the unity and confidence they displayed, reaffirming our shared values and purpose. Here’s to 2024!
