💆‍♀️ Our skin is covered in hair — yep, even those soft little peach fuzz hairs on your face. Every hair follicle has a sebaceous gland that makes sebum (oil), which is your skin’s natural moisturizer.

💧 Enter sebaceous filaments: think of them as tiny “oil highways” inside your pores. Their job? To move that sebum from inside the pore out onto your skin to keep it smooth and hydrated.

I am so excited to announce our new medical director Dr. Downey and owner of Forever Fabulous Medical Aesthetics. Dr. Downey is located inside of BSE and will be offering Botox and Fillers.

Dr. Downey is passionate about bringing a new vision for medical aesthetics to Bluffton, SC. She believes that people are so much more than their outside appearance and loves helping clients shine their inner beauty outward! Having practiced full service medical aesthetics in Ohio for 7 years, she has experience and knowledge that she is eager to share with our special piece of the low country.

I LOVE a good chemical peel but choosing the right acid for my clients skin condition and skin type is crucial to getting desired results!! So I’m very specific on what goes on your skin.

Mandelic is ideal for ALL skin types. Especially my higher Fitzpatrick clients. It’s great for sensitive skin, reduces hyperpigmentation, acne + acne scars. It has incredible antibacterial properties and reduces inflammation.

Retinoic is one of my favorites!! I use this to seal in all of my clients peels or stand alone for a light resurfacing! It’s great for all skin types especially acneic and aging! It works by speeding up the cellular turnover, reduces fine lines, and helps even skin tones. It also stimulates collagen and resurfaces skin texture.

TCA is only suitable for specific skin types. It’s my favorite for lifting pigment, diminishing acne scars, reducing deep wrinkles, hyperpigmentation. It’s safer for higher Fitz and deeply resurfaces skin.

Lactic is great for all skin types but especially dry skin. It’s safe for sensitive skin and reduces redness, fine lines, resurfaces kin texture and evens out skin tone.

Glycolic is great for most skin types but especially oily skin. It works by reducing oil and refining pores, refined texture, fine lines and wrinkles, reduces acne and acne scars while deeply resurfacing the skin and stimulating collagen.

Jessner is one of my FAV’s. It’s ideal for most skin types and skin issues. It reduces acne, acne scars, and sun damage. Refines pores, texture, and evens out skin tone while deeply resurfacing the skin.

Salicylic is only to be used on specific skin types. Great for oily and congested skin by helping control oil production and reduces mild sun damage. Not to be used on higher Fitz as it penetrates deeply into the skin and really heats up!! It’s packed full of antibacterial properties making it one of my go to’s for acne!

You should always consult a professional for a chemical peel. They’re never to be used at home as you can really create unfixable damage. I’ve seen some horrible DIY damage that even lasers can’t fix!
