LETS TALK ABOUT IT !
This loyal client (my mom) 🥰 has been getting lash extensions for over two years consecutively. No break, fills every 2-3 weeks. As you can see from the picture she has no gaps, no breakage and strong lashes. We decided to remove her set just so I could see the condition of her lashes and show you guys that lash extensions do not cause damage with proper care and application .
But… there are still many ways that extensions could cause damage. Make sure your artist has proper training, knows about the lash cycle, knows about different weights and lengths of lashes and how they affect the natural lashes. Not everyone can rock a 18mm thick megavolume. And it is my job as an artist to understand what my client can handle and how we should modify her extensions to find what will suit her and not compromise the health of her lashes.
Although a huge part to having healthy natural lashes is put on the artist. Clients aftercare can heavily affect the condition of their lashes. And it doesn’t just include picking, pulling, and rubbing their extensions. Doing all of that can cause traction alopecia and cause the hair follicle to become damage and not regrow. Not washing your extensions and wearing heavy makeup can actually cause damage as well. Improper hygiene can lead to clogged ducts and clogged hair follicles and can also slow down the rate at which your lashes grow or won’t allow the hair to grow at all. Don’t forget you can also get blepharitis from improper cleaning 😷
Please remember, to keep your lashes healthy :
•wash extensions daily
•don’t pick , pull or rub extensions
•don’t wait to long between fills (extensions will be to outgrown and weigh down the natural lash causing premature shedding)
•don’t wear heavy eye makeup
•don’t over brush extensions
•understand that styles you want might not always be what’s best for your lashes
