My first child turns six today and last night we snuggled in bed. Every night she gets to ask me three questions but tonight I asked them. And I asked her what she loved about being five and what she’s excited for about being six.
I recorded her answers and now I have them forever. This is a little snippet of her I printed responses. Such a pure heart. Such a joyful spirit. I love that about her.
Most of her answers had to do with how much she loves school, and that made me so happy and proud, too. Safe to say we have a new birthday tradition around here.

Once upon a time I fancied myself a makeup guru💄
Now I’m on a mission to declutter 1000 items out of my home by the time I turn forty in August.
On this episode we take a (gross) walk down memory lane and get rid of more makeup I can’t seem to art with even though it will more likely never touch my face again bc it’s def full of bacteria at this point. 🤢
Let it be known, that makeup is not something one should collect😂 I’m a much more streamlined, skincare focused lady these days anyway!
Be honest, how old is your oldest lipstick? (You can pry my YSL’s from my ☠️☠️ but they too old and I know it😂)

Welp welcome to my shame🫣
I’m on a mission to declutter 1000 items from my home by the time I turn forty in August. This basement has become an absolute dumping ground and even more cramped as we emptied one side out to hopefully start renovation soon!!
I had to at least tackle this gnarly corner to get an old cabinet out for bulk garbage day. So here we are!

But why did it take til almost 40 to even know this?!
I swear these cycle shifts have gotten way more intense as I’ve gotten older! But at least now I have the language and understanding of why.
For the next 7-12 business days I may need to remind myself that I have good ideas and actual friends bc those hormones will get ya!😂
Also writing this at 1:40am so looks like the insomnia may be creeping in too…

100 days to get rid of 1000 things?
I’m up for the challenge! My home has been feeling overwhelming and I know how to fix that. So I’m going space by space over the next few months and editing out everything we don’t use/need/want. I’m on a mission to declutter 1000 items from our home.
Everything counts. And I’m counting everything. Part one starting with a bang in the kids art space! 🙃 I knew there would be a lot to go from here which would incentivize me to keep it up in the trickier spots! (Old organizer trick, start with the stuff that’s easy to let go of to practice, before moving onto more difficult decision making).
Any guesses how many items removed from this particular session???

It’s the final countdown✨
While I’m not stressed about turning forty, there certainly are some things I thought I would have accomplished by now that just seem to elude me.
I thought I’d be back to being an equal earner in our household. I thought I’d be back to prebaby weight. I thought I’d feel like more of a grown up, honestly.
So while I know I can’t change all of these things in 100 days, I’m going to try. Over the next three months I want to get in better shape, I want to get my career on track again, I want to clear out the excess in my home, and I want to get back in touch with my creativity, through style, crafting, diy, however it manifests itself!

There was a time when I thought infertility would keep all this from me. And I am so, so lucky it did not.
Being a mom is my biggest effort, my deepest struggle, my constant challenge, and my greatest joy.
Motherhood has changed me in all the best ways. Made into the version of myself I didn’t know I was seeking. I didn’t get lost in motherhood. I am found.
