I didn’t get a before picture but Michelle came in with copper hair and wanted to go back to her roots. To make sure we really kicked the red, I started with an all over color using Demi’s and then glossed with shades eq. Color will always fade warm, especially if there’s warmth underneath, so doing two layers help it not fade too fast.

We also refreshed her layers which help the blowout look and makes it sooo bouncy!!

I love love love dimensional brunettes!! A common concern I get from clients is that they still want to look/ feel overall brunette. Often they just want a bit of dimension added and don’t want to go fully for a bronde/blonde color. Thats why I pull those foils early, while there’s still warmth left and before it hits that light yellow/gold stage. I also highly recommend using a color depositing mask at home to help keep the hair looking fresh as the gloss fades out. Some people will reach for a blue shampoo to tone out the orange but it’ll still look light. Thats why i recommend a mask with an actual BROWN color. We started out with an at home color block so we had to be very careful lightening that previous color. I started by coloring over the pink sections so that it could process while I applied lightener to the darker section. Since box dye can be a bit unpredictable, I wanted to make sure the color on the other sections would have enough time to sit in case I needed to rinse the lightener out quickly.

Once the dark section was lightened enough, I washed everything out and treated it with no2. I then glossed all over to get to a more even color. After that, I applied Demi color on dry hair to reach our final result!🕺

A step by step breakdown of a fun color correction🎨

a little different than my usual content but TikTok liked it so I thought I’d post here🫡 if you like this kind of thing maybe I’ll make some more!

Going from black box dye to blonde can be a lot on your hair. Thats why I’m glad my client was willing to do multiple sessions with lots of treatments during and in between.

When you start wedding planning, something to keep in mind is what you want your hair to look like on your wedding day. Sometimes getting the look you want isn’t possible in one appointment which is why it’s important to plan ahead. For some people, that looks like 2 color appointments within six months of their wedding. For others, like this client, many sessions are needed with lots of time to give the hair some extra TLC to keep it nice and healthy for whatever style is chosen on the special day.
