“Why are stylists charging $200 for a silk press?” Let’s talk about what goes into that appointment because it’s going over a lot of heads 👀 The prices in this video show what it would cost to purchase the products on my tray. Of course, I’m not using an entire bottle on one client, and those products last multiple appointments. But purchasing them is only one part of providing the service Your appointment also helps cover education, ongoing training, professional tools, rent, utilities, cleaning, laundry, and the time spent caring for your hair And then there’s the expertise: knowing which products your hair needs, how to handle it, when to adjust the service, and how to work toward your desired result while prioritizing its condition You’re paying for someone to take on that work, make informed decisions, and give your hair dedicated attention I view a professional silk press as a luxury service. There is nothing wrong with caring for your hair at home, choosing a salon within your budget, or deciding that a particular service isn’t worth it to you. Your budget deserves respect, and so does a stylist’s labour That said, clients are absolutely entitled to ask what a service includes and expect professionalism, clear pricing, and quality care. A higher price should come with value you can understand At Bliss Beauty Studio, my focus is on the care behind the finished look.
