Throw back Thursday!!!
This came across my memories feed, so I’m throwing it back to when I was the Featuted Beauty Guru/Expert at Green Acres Market. From the years of 2016 through 2020, you couldn’t walk into the Oklahoma City store without seeing this poster on the marquee and flyers posted. I gave my expertise and took part in some great store events as well as workshops for the beauty & wellness department. It’s crazy how things work out. I had actually been freelancing with a few talent agencies and picked up a demonstration for Zuzu Luxe Cosmetics. After demoing at the store I was presented with this opportunity and the rest was history. I continued demoing as well as taking on this role, working my own makeup/skincare business and still doing event makeup for weddings and so forth. In the same span of this opportunity I also started demonstrating with Gabriel Cosmetics and Mineral Fusion Cosmetics.

Reflecting on this time in my career and life has brought me some huge perspective. I was still grieving the loss of my Big Brother due to a heart attack before taking on this role and never realized how significant this milestone was for me. Looking back at it now I’m seeing the bigger picture. I realize how monumental it was for me to not only be of the Minority, but also a professional woman and the face/presence of something so special for women of all different skin tones including those that looked like me. This was truly a blessing to be a part of. I’m reminiscing about all the connections, and friendships that came from this experience. I am truly grateful!

To everyone out there second guessing themselves and the path you’re on, STOP IT. Self doubt is crippling. DREAM BIG!!! It’s never too late to start. Put in the work and trust the process. That’s all we can do in this life….
