When you build something from the ground up, there are always those ‘maybe someday’ moments you dream about. After months of planning, thousands of stem counts, notebooks and sticky notes full of scribbles, way too much coffee, maybe a few beers, and a whole lot of faith, this past Friday one of those “maybe someday” moments happened for me.

Wedding florals are so much more than just arranging some pretty flowers. It’s months of planning, sourcing, and preparing for every possible scenario. Then wedding week arrives and it’s game time. Every minute is filled with processing stems, managing logistics, and completely changing course when flowers arrive looking differently than expected. I like to call those “Wellllll Sheeyit moments”

Wow, have I learned a lot and I still have so much more to learn, I make mistakes, lots of them in all reality. But each event helps me grow, improve, and become a better designer. This past week would never have happened without two very special people. Brooke Galey thank you for your talent, your hustle, your creativity, and your willingness to jump in and tackle absolutely anything. You worked your tail off and I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. Brenden Ourth you said “for better or worse” and somehow accidentally joined the event floral biz. You never applied, you still have yet to receive a paycheck, and unfortunately for you, quitting isn’t an option. 😂 Thank you for supporting every crazy idea, engineering whatever I dream up and loading trucks in a downpour. You support my dreams even when they become your weekend projects, and I can’t thank you enough.

We started out the day by loading the truck in the pouring rain on Friday, totally unsure what an outdoor wedding day would bring. Somehow, the weather did exactly what we needed. The rain stopped and the day turned absolutely gorgeous. Then because why wouldn’t they????? The skies opened right back up and downpoured again while loading up at the end of our evening. Honestly, we needed the cooldown.

A huge thank you to Heather Holmes Schreppel for placing your trust in me with such an important day, and to the beautiful bride Lexi Baker for allowing me the creative freedom to bring your vision to life. You looked absolutely stunning. Wishing you and Corbin a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and happiness.

A huge highlight of the day was getting to spend some time with my longtime friends Deadra Phipps Jones and Kinlee Jones. Their catering was amazing as always. Something really cool happens when you work alongside people who care as much as you do and who truly want every detail to be perfect.

Now that this wedding is officially in the books, I think it’s time the floral cooler gets a little vacation and I get back to my regularly scheduled programming. 😊💇‍♀️💅💈
My next big wedding isn’t until this fall, which means I’ll be spending the summer where it all started, behind the chair at Shear Paradise. While I love the creativity and excitement that comes with weddings and events, the salon is still my first love. I’m so looking forward to creating beautiful hair, and enjoying a few weekends at the pool and the lake! Then come fall, we’ll do it all over again.
