Exciting news today:

I received a call from Colonial Williamsburg. I am being awarded a scholarship to attend their Ales Through the Ages conference in November. I’ll be a master 18th century brewer in no time!! 🤓🤓🍺🍺

Hello all of my beautiful people 🥰

I have some very exciting news to share with you all and I hope everyone takes it well. Today at the historic site I work at I was offered to stay on past our seasonal closing date of Columbus Day. You guys, there are keeping me on, they like me, they really like me! But, as I open this door to my future in the field of history/public history, I have to close the door on my career as a hairdresser.

This is my official retirement post, and it is the most difficult thing I have ever had to post on my business page. Many of you have been with me since before I was out of hair school and have allowed me to continually develop my craft while sharing in all of your beautiful life experiences. I have been a part of so many proms, engagements, weddings, baby announcements (sometimes I knew before anyone else!), graduations, job acceptances, career changes, divorces...you name it I have been through it all with you guys. And I would not trade a single second of it for anything in the world. For the last 21 years hair has been such a major portion of my life...I am not sure I can even imagine what life is going to look for me now.

There is no way I could ever convey my love and gratitude for you all over the years, it has been such an amazing adventure. I hope you all feel the same way. As I make my exit from this industry, please know that I have many friends and colleagues in this field I am more than happy to refer you out to. And I will happily share my techniques and formulas with the hairdresser you make yours next. I have never been one to not share my knowledge. Honestly though, they probably won't need it, I have worked with some amazing hairdressers over the course of my career. So please just reach out and I can give you any and all information you need.

Thank you again from the very bottom of my heart for everything you have given me over the years. I can never repay everything I have gotten from you all and I love you all dearly for it ❤️❤️❤️

I love wedding party days

Good morning my beautiful clients!! Just wanted to give everyone an update on my hours at the shop now that I am back at the Herkimer Home State Historic Site Wednesday through Sunday from now until Columbus Day. My plan for the summer is to be at shop on Mondays. However, I am going to try and not spend my entire day there as I usual do. Please let me explain before an angry mob forms. I have been in the hair business for almost 21 years now, and I have literally given my blood, sweat, and tears into my craft. I have never settled for “yeah that’s close enough to what they want” or “that’s good enough even though it’s not perfect”. I have worked through sickness countless times (until recently when the world decided it was probably a bad idea to have sick people at work) and I have missed everything from birthdays to weddings to recitals to get togethers with my family so that I could accommodate clients and their schedules. After losing my mother in January I experienced a lot of deep seeded guilt over the hours I work. I lost so much time with her in order to be at the salon longer because I teach during the week when college is in session and work at a historic site during the summer. So much time I could have had with her….and I’ll never get the chance to have that again. My oldest niece just turned 15 and just over a week ago my brother in law and his wife welcomed my newest niece into the world. This summer I really want to use my two days off a week (Monday and Tuesday) to see my family and have down time. Of course I’m still booking appointments for Mondays. All I ask is if I decide to make a Monday a short day that you don’t hate me for it. My mental health has taken a hell of a beating since COVID hit and losing my mother that way we did just obliterated what was left of it. Yes, I have not been in a good way mentally….I’m just really good at hiding it. So please, take it easy on me this summer if I don’t come in until noon, or if I want to be home by 3. I, of course, always understand if that doesn’t work for your schedule and can point you to some of my awesome hairdresser friends that are available so much more than I am. I just want to make sure I don’t start to hate my time at the salon and I am always giving you guys what you deserve. Thank you for understanding and I’ll be seeing you on Mondays this summer ❤️

Hello everyone!!! This Saturday, October 2nd, I will be back in the salon on Saturdays 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Just a quick update for my clients, we are returning to mask requirements at the salon for everyone (even if you are vaccinated). Our goal is to not only keep you fabulous, but to keep you healthy! Last winter was literally the first winter since I have been a hairdresser that I was not sick. So we are going into the winter playing the odds 😊 Please mask up when you come to the salon for the safety of not only yourself, but all of our clients and stylists as well.
