It’s amazing the difference a good cut can make! Thank you for letting me okay with your hair!! (Yes she looks like me because she’s my sister 😉)

We used
• Color Awakening Hairbath
• Color Radiance Conditioner

Styled with
• curl gloss
• Innersense I Create Hold
• I Create Lift Volumizing Foam

So- normally I finger style but we opted to brush style her curls this time using the Denman Brush ☺️

Fun before and after of my beautiful Mom. It’s been about a year- ish since we cut her hair. It lost a lot of its shape in that time. She came in yesterday, we preserved most of her length and mostly added layers and framed around the front of her face.

She lives in an area with REALLY hard water- which prompted us to use a detox shampoo through the ends of her hair and that SOFTENED her hair up so much. Got rid of all the extra minerals and build up that had been accumulating through her hair strands.

Used the a new wash and styling method that I’ve been trying out in the salon and as you can see her curls REALLY responded 🙌

The “fake bob” if you will 😉. This is something you can try if you have longer hair (I would think shoulder length for curly, at least collarbone for wavy).

This is a style I learned in Cosmetology school when we were learning “movie hairstyles”.

All you need are Bobby Pins and your hair ☺️

Section your hair out into at least 5-ish sections (more if you have thicker hair. Put the Bobby pin at the ends of that hair section, then you’ll slightly over exaggerate a twisting motion going up toward your head- then pin. I’ll usually secure the first bobby-pin with a second bobby-pin across. Repeat for each section.

Personally, I like to do this on day 3 because my hair is usually more voluminous😂 but I also get lazier with my hair the more days I go. In general I usually wash every 3 days (I count wash day as day 1).

Try it out, play with it, let me know what you think. I made this video on the whim, sooo…be gentle 😅😘.

Curl transformation by Adam-

“Q: Can I have length and curls too?
A: YES!
For this beautiful Curl I did a clarifying hairbath before shampooing and conditioning. Then I used that ‘! Create Curl Memory’ from

Clipped the roots and let it air dry before diffusing the rest.”

Before & after🎉

Sometimes all you need is a trim… or a 10 inch chop ☺️

Something that has come up a lot recently in the salon is the balance of length & curl weight (so to speak). For some curl friends they can get away with both length and curl without a lot of extra work because that is just what their hair can do. For others (myself included) it can become a choice of one or the other:

Do I want the length or the curl?

• If you choose LENGTH you’ll have longer hair but then compromise with getting longer and looser curls. If you want more lift then you’ll have to put more time into styling.
• If you choose CURLS you’ll get bouncier/ lifted curls, but then you compromise the length.

Definition shouldn’t have to be an issue as it can always be taken care of with the right product combo & styling routine.

So if you HAD to choose… what would you pick?

Also, Thank you for trusting me with your curly cut 😘

Curl profile:
Coarseness: Medium/ fine
Density: Thick
Porosity: Medium
Spring: 2-3 inches

Products used:

Color Awakening Hairbath
Color Radiance Conditioner
Sweet Spirit Leave In Conditioner
I Create Hold
I Create Lift

Let’s talk clarifying (Part 2)

What is clarifying?
Clarifying is cleaning & removing build up from the hair.

Who should clarify?
Everyone

How often?
Ideally once a month for optimal results, but everyone is different. It depends on your hair and your routine

Signs I should clarify?
• Wet frizz
• you keep hydrating it but it still feels dry
• Curls have recently struggled to bounce
• Curls/waves are having a hard time forming
• Hair feels heavy
• Color feels dull or lifeless

Why should I clarify?
Clarifying helps to remove build up that keeps your hair from receiving moisture. When your hair has product/environmental/mineral build up it can coat the cuticle of the hair (the individual strands) - think it like a water barrier- then when you go to add water or hydrating products your hair will have a really hard time absorbing it which in turn can make the hair feel dry.

Products that are heavy with butters and oils, though they can make the hair feel smooth, can also cause this problem. I’m not saying don’t use them but if you do you’ll want to make sure you clarify more often.

Clarifying helps break down and remove the build up (barrier) so when you go in and add your products your hair can full absorb whatever you’re adding to it.

I love the Innersense Detox Hair Mask because it is gentle on the hair, removes build and will leave the hair feeling softer and healthier.

Hey Curlies! Spring is almost here! Are your curls ready for some spring cleaning OR a completely new look??

Throwback to when took me blonde back in 2018- I LOVED IT!😍 the temptation to do this again is very high right now ☺️. I was shooting for low maintenance blonde and she knocked it out of the ball park. 🙌🎉

During this time I was growing out an old pixie from a post-baby cut. I figured, it’s short right now, why the heck not try out the blonde (an old hair school dream of mine) and it was great!

My color specialist took my hair health into account and let me know what was realistically possible. Was she exclusively a curl specialist? No, but she was a color specialist- she knew exactly what was needed to achieve my results, she knew color like no other, took care of my hair and that was important to me.

I say this because we find that sometimes curly clients feel like they have to see a curl specialist for their curly color… but they are not exclusive. Is it nice when you can find someone who does both? Of course! But if you find someone who does color really well and takes care to keep your strands happy and healthy- don’t be afraid to go to them ❤️.
