Wanted to give a big shout out to my friend .hair for winning the team category for NAHA 2022! For those that don’t know what it is it’s like winning the Oscar’s if we where actors. It’s been awesome to see her grow into an amazing artist! Not to mention I cut her hair and doesn’t she look amazing!!!!! She has a softer fabric and we wanted to give her a s**g with texture and movement but still have a strong perimeter. So I used my Hattori Hanzo Kamikaze (thicky Nikki), my VT1 (freaky Freddy), and my VT2 (George) to give her this soft but textured feel. I love when my friends do amazing things. Janelle I love you my friend and this is just the beginning for you!

As an educator when you get messages like this it makes what we do worth all the craziness of traveling, late night flights, time away from family, new cities, eating alone, and rushing from place to place worth it. Doing stage work and being front of hundreds of ppl is supper fun but, what I really love is when we get to do small class and be more one on one. Being able to work in a closer setting to me feels more real and personable than staring out to an audience we can’t see. I have always tried to make all my classes I have taught the best experience because you never know where inspiration may motivate some one to try something new and help them create something beautiful. I’m glad I got to share some knowledge with give her a class that was memorable and inspirational. Thank you for your kind and moving words my friend. So of my favorite things to do as a parent is to check on my kids when they are in bed. I love to sneak in there rooms give them a quick hug, kiss on their forehead, and whisper “Daddy loves you”. They give me a little half sleepy smile and whisper back “I love you too”. It honestly is one of my favorite things to do. I love my kids more than words can ever explane and I don’t ever want my kids to forget it. I grow up very different then my kids. I had a mother and a father but my relationship with my dad I’ll be honest was the best. At times I wondered if he true loved me, cared about me, or even wanted me. Growing up he struggled with alcohol and at times drugs. He was very scary as a dad because he also had a temper and would be quick to yell or discipline. I grew up having a genuine fear of my father. I never know what was going to happen when he came home. Was he going to come home sober, was he even going to come come, or would he take out his stresses out on me. It was a legit fear not knowing what was going to happen. My mom did her best to fill the gap of my dad not stepping up to the plate and being or doing what a father should. But it was also hard for her because she took a lot of the abuse to protect me and my sister growing up. Any one who is a single parent knows the stress to have to fill both roles as the parent. Me and my dad didn’t really have much of a relationship during high school/college. We spoke minimally and didn’t really engage with each other unless we absolutely had too. I remember always looking at my friends with there dads and always be jealous of there relationships because there was nothing more I wanted than to be close with my dad even though he wasn’t the best father figure. Imagine that wanting to be loved by the person that hurts you the most lol. With time I learned to forgive my dad. Not for the things that he had done to me as a kid, all the hurt that he had caused me, but for not living up to the expectation that I had for him as a dad /father. He grew up in a broken home and had every type of physical and emotion type of abuse you can think of. ⬇️ more of the story in the comments ⬇️

Ok every one I wanted to take a minute and introduce you to some one that has a big impact on career and her name is Meg! I have known her since 2008 and I’ll never forget the day she came into my salon with big smile and awesome attitude. I remember thinking to myself what ever your selling I’m buying because of vibe she had. Little did I know that I was about to make a life friend. I have seen her start business’s that take off because they believe in her vision to only have them fail because of poor choice in the investors decisions. But the thing that I have loved seeing her do is with every venture that has passed she come back even better, stronger, and with more success. She is a person that holds integrity and has learned when to leave a situation when it no longer holds her values. To me that is an amazing attribute to have because in our industry I see ppl that no longer believe in what they do or who they do it for but the money/status they don’t want to lose so they keep doing what they do. She is strong enough in her person to know that she doesn’t need them to be a success. That’s what makes her so fierce. She has a good business sense. One of the things that has always impressed me about her though is she is always wanting to invest in her circle. I never have heard say words like me or I. She has always used words like we and us. She truly builds and nourishes the relationships she has. She build community and culture into all that she does. She is truly a boss babe and some one I will always wish to inspire to be like in my career and life. But ultimately I love about her is that I also get to call her my friend. She is true in through and encourage every to be more like I love you friend! Im glad I get a front row seat and watch you grow a person and stylist.
