Read that again. We will never fully heal until we recognize that we are not just a physical being but we have 3 parts of ourselves that need to heal: mind, body and spirit.

Growing up with a narcissistic mother means your emotions were never safe to express, so your body learnt to hold them instead. Every time you swallowed your anger to avoid her rage, every time you suppressed your sadness because it inconvenienced her, every time you pushed down your fear to appear strong enough not to be a burden, your body absorbed it. Those feelings did not disappear just because you could not speak them. They settled into your muscles, your gut, your chest. The tension in your shoulders is not random; it is decades of bracing for impact. The knot in your stomach has a source; it is all the words you never got to say, all the pain you were told was not real, all the grief you were never allowed to feel.
Your mother likely punished emotional expression, so you became an expert at shutting feelings down before they could fully surface. Crying made you weak or attention-seeking. Anger made you difficult or ungrateful. Fear made you dramatic. So you stopped letting yourself feel in real time. You numbed, dissociated, pushed through, performed fine when you were falling apart. Your nervous system, though, does not forget. It catalogues every suppressed emotion, every moment you abandoned yourself to keep her comfortable. When those feelings have nowhere to go, they do not vanish, they migrate. They become chronic pain, digestive issues, migraines, fatigue, panic attacks. Your body is not betraying you; it is trying to communicate what your voice was never allowed to say.
Physical symptoms are often feelings that got tired of being ignored and found another way to demand your attention. That tightness in your chest when you are around certain people? That is your body saying "this is not safe." The exhaustion that no amount of sleep fixes? That is the weight of emotions you have been carrying alone for years. The unexplained pain that doctors cannot diagnose? That is trauma living in your tissue, asking to be seen, processed and released. Your body has been holding your pain because you were never given the space, safety or permission to let it out any other way. It is not failing you, it is doing exactly what it was designed to do, survive.
Healing means learning to listen to what your body has been trying to tell you. It means noticing where you hold tension and asking what feeling lives there. It means allowing yourself to cry, to rage, to tremble, to feel the full weight of what you have been carrying without immediately trying to stop it or fix it. It means somatic practices; therapy, breathwork, movement, anything that helps you reconnect to a body you may have spent years disconnecting from. Your mother taught you that feelings were dangerous, that your body's signals were inconvenient, that you needed to override your instincts to keep her happy. Unlearning that means honouring the messages your body sends, even when they are uncomfortable, even when they disrupt your ability to keep performing fine.
The tension, the knots, the chronic symptoms; they are not proof something is wrong with you. They are proof that you survived something that required you to shut down parts of yourself to get through it. Your body kept score because it had to. Now, in the safety of distance, in the quiet of your own healing, it is finally safe enough to start releasing what you have been holding. You are allowed to feel now. You are allowed to let your body speak. And you are allowed to process every emotion you were never permitted to have. That is not weakness, that is the beginning of coming home to yourself.

Can anyone relate to this…
We’re up against powerful biochemical mechanisms created by food addiction. Willpower becomes useless when industrial junk food and sugar are in charge of your brain chemistry.
Fake foods we’ve been introduced to in the 20th century – many of which contain high-fructose corn syrup and other added sugars – have hijacked our brains, our hormones, and our metabolism. These Frankenfoods have literally created a vicious cycle of hunger and cravings.
There is no such thing as junk food. There’s just junk, and there’s food.
I have a simple yet radical proposal: Let’s send the trillion-dollar junk food industry a message and eat real food. That means foods nature created, which don’t come with barcodes, fake ingredients, or an ingredient list at all.
To do that, we need to rewire our brains. A researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) told me the real regulator of our weight and metabolism isn’t our stomach, but our brain chemistry. The right foods send a message to your brain to shut down hunger and cravings so you burn fat and feel great. Sugary, processed foods send the opposite message.
We can start to do this by eating whole, real foods. Make sure that every meal consists of 75% plant foods, healthy fats, and sustainable protein. And try to avoid anything high in sugar, high in starches, and processed foods.
