✨Warm tones reflect light and make hair appear brighter.✨

Including a little bit of warm tones in cool/ashy gloss formulas keeps it cool & simultaneously prevents blondes from appearing flat or dull. It makes for a more well-rounded finish. Not too ash, not too warm.

If your blonde is a little extra grown out OR if you’re on the darker side…
Appointment 1️⃣: REFRESH
Brighten around your face & bring up a few highs toward the back.

If your blonde is fairly fresh OR if you’re on the lighter side…
Appointment 2️⃣: REVERSE BALAYAGE
Paint down shadowy sections that melt seamlessly from your natural base color into your brighter ends, leaving blonde pieces in between

Both options add dimension and make that blonde POP! 🔥

Some of my favorite ways to paint in dimension on brunettes:

👉🏼No foilwork necessary!👈🏼

⚡️pick up triangular sections for boldness
⚡️use 2-3 different formulas through the mids and ends
⚡️alternate sizes of triangular sections to showcase more of the brown you want to see… for darker all-over, paint your darkest level on larger triangles & your lightest level on smaller triangles
⚡️For melts in general: keep your base color the darkest of the levels your using, and melt it into the lighter mids and ends
⚡️vary how low you paint your base color from one section to the next to avoid that ombré harshness
⚡️Experiment & have fun! Enjoy the process!

One and a half months ago, I set aside today as a mental health day.

I had 100 billion reasons why I shouldn’t. 100 billion more why I couldn’t. I even considered opening up my books at work just a week ago because my brain said, “it’s always better to grind and be more available to your guests.” (My brain betraying me over here like 🤷🏼‍♀️ who, me?!)

Yet my tribe (and especially my husband) encouraged me. They affirmed me. I did need this day off and I deserve it.

Now in this moment I’m existing here so full of peace and happiness. Late morning… still in my house… my curls still a mess… and I’m still sipping coffee while not on my feet.

If you’re waiting for a sign: TAKE THAT BREAK. Block off a day. It’s just one day. (Or take several days in a row- get it, girl!)

How should you take care of your hair color?

🧐Some folks like to set it and forget it… they trust their hairdresser to make everything right again when they come back for a refresh…

🤔While others are majorly on top of the at-home care.

As with most things in life, the answer is: balance! 🧘🏽 A little bit of good home care. A little bit of reliance on your knowledgeable hairdresser.

The better care you take of your hair at home, the better shape your hair will be in when you walk into your salon!

Here are a couple tips for keeping your color in tip top shape between appointments:

1️⃣ If you’re a neutral or cool blonde- don’t be afraid of your purple shampoo! I like to have some of my guests use it less often, but leave it in for 2-3 minutes when they do use it. If you’re a daily purple shampooer, leaving it in for 1 minute is perfect.

(Timing depends partly on the porosity of the hair, so ask your colorist what’s best for you.)

My current fave is the 💜lavender-infused💜 (yes! Lavender!) Blonde Angel Wash by Kevin Murphy. It works like a charm and smells like heaven!

2️⃣ If you heat style (blow dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc) use a heat protectant. This will help preserve your color/gloss longer, and protect your hair from damage caused by heat.

My current fave is Heated Defense by Kevin Murphy! It’s a lightweight foam that you can use on wet or dry (think second day) hair.
