June is Cancer Immunotherapy Awareness Month! Advocates are gathering and wearing white to show support and promote education about immunotherapy, a cancer treatment that uses the body's own immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. Everyone is encouraged to participate in Wear White Day on June 12. Wearing white symbolizes the power of our immune system to fight cancer. Survivors, organizations, clinicians and researchers are urged to share their experiences to educate others about this potentially life-saving treatment.

Everyone who has been touched by cancer is encouraged to join with cancer survivors and their loved ones during the month of June in raising awareness about the benefits of early detection and the ongoing challenges of cancer survivorship. Celebrate the work being done to improve the lives of all cancer survivors and their caregivers, families and friends.

This year's theme is "Unmasking the Appeal - countering to***co and ni****ne addiction," which is aimed at addressing the way the industry markets to***co and ni****ne to young people. The goals include advocating for strong policies, including a ban on flavors that make to***co and ni****ne products more appealing, and protecting public health.

May 28 is World Blood Cancer Day! It is a day for individuals, communities and organizations to share their support for fighting blood cancers, which include leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Learn about being a stem cell donor and know that if you register, you can possibly provide a person with blood cancer the lifesaving treatment they need. A stem cell transplant is a procedure in which a person receives healthy stem cells (blood-forming cells) to replace their own stem cells. The goal is to create a new immune system by helping restore the body’s ability to produce healthy blood cells.

May 22 is Don't Fry Day! The Friday before Memorial Day is Don't Fry Day, an event to raise sun safety awareness and the need for skin cancer prevention. The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention is spotlighting the holiday weekend to encourage sun safety. Suggestions include applying sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside on any skin that may be exposed, wearing protective clothing, seeking shade when possible and using extra caution near water and sand, which can reflect the damaging rays of the sun and increase your chance of a sunburn.

May 20 is International Clinical Trials Day! Every year, this date is set aside to spotlight clinical trials and the opportunity they represent for helping prevent and treat cancer as well as other diseases. May 20 was chosen because it recognizes the day James Lind started what is considered the first randomized clinical trial aboard a ship on May 20, 1747. The trial tested the use of citrus fruits to cure scurvy.

The month is designed to emphasize their extraordinary ability to go above and beyond, breaking barriers to provide exceptional care and inspire hope in every patient's journey. They fill a critical need by coordinating a patient’s cancer care, advocating for them and forming bonds that may last for years. These relationships can be an especially important part of a patient's life.

Multiple outreach efforts during the month strive to raise funds and hope toward the mission of finding cures for brain tumors.

This annual observance is dedicated to empowering women and girls of all ages to prioritize their health and well-being. This year's theme is "Know Your Nutrition." It encourages women to make informed nutrition choices to support their overall health and help prevent chronic disease.
