Hey everyone, some of you are curious about summer makeup tips that stick around all day! To handle the Florida heat, think of it as a “less is more” game, all about getting your makeup ready and using light, easy layers.
Skip heavy formulas and use a gripping primer, waterproof eye products, and a setting spray between makeup layers for maximum melt-proof longevity.
1. Skincare Prep: Opt for a lightweight, water-based or gel moisturizer. Let your SPF and moisturizer dry completely before moving to makeup. (30 minutes prior)
Use a gripping primer (like Milk Makeup Hydro Grip) to ensure your foundation stays anchored. Apply it specifically on oily areas like your T-zone, nose, and upper lip.
Swap thick foundations for lightweight skin tints or tinted moisturizers. (I like supergoop in golden hour). Piling on heavy coverage allows cracking/melting in high humidity. Spot Conceal: Instead of concealing your whole face, only use a high-coverage, long-wear concealer where you need it.
2. Lock-In Thin LayersLayering Method: Apply your liquid or cream blushes and bronzers under your foundation. Then, apply a sheer layer of foundation on top to create a locked-in, natural "peek-through" finish.Strategic Powdering: Avoid heavy "baking." Lightly sweep a translucent powder only on your T-zone to reduce shine without causing a cakey texture. Layer with Setting Spray: Spray a setting spray (like Urban Decay All Nighter) not just at the end, but in between major makeup steps (ex. after your base, then again at the very end).
3. Waterproof and Smudge-ProofWaterproof Eyes: Florida humidity will make regular mascara and liner run. I place black or dark powder on top of my pencil liner to make it stay in place.
Switch to waterproof formulas immediately. Matte Lips: Shiny lip glosses tend to smear and mix with sweat. Opt for long-lasting matte liquid lipsticks or lip stains. Blotting Sheets: If you get shiny mid-afternoon, gently press—don't rub—to absorb the sweat and oil without disturbing your makeup.
