We naturally shed 75 - 150 hairs a day. When you have extensions, some of your natural hair is in a bead & doesn’t get a chance to be released. Not every shed is created equal. Sometimes the client naturally sheds a lot, and you’ll see more shed in your install removals. Sometimes the client is rough on them at home. Sometimes it’s on me to tweak the install. Either way we’re going to figure it out because shed is inevitable. I always show my clients how much hair came out so I can educate them on how to change their at home care and or I will tweak the install to help the client. Does your stylist show you your shed?

LET ME EXPLAIN: My client came back after some time away ready for a little reboot. Her extension color was a bit uneven—solid blonde on one side and lowlights on the other—and her extensions weren’t sitting as comfortably as they should.

I started by giving her a comfortable base, then repositioned her extensions for better balance. To finish, I added a soft drop root and a few lowlights to bring everything together and create a seamless blend.

Now everything feels even, looks natural, and most importantly—she’s comfortable 🤍
