Icy blonde highlights and a CHOP for my girl😍

As you can see in the before photo, her hair looks pretty fine and started to lose some fullness toward the last 3 inches of her hair 😅

She was wanting a change and to feel like her hair had life and bounce to it!💁🏻‍♀️

I cut a beautiful “lob”, did a partial foil to brighten her back up, toned her to be icy cool, and styled her close to how she wears it naturally🤞🏼

We loved this outcome! I love doing these type of transformations on my beautiful clients 🥹

A mistake I made early in my hair career 😅
STORY TIMEEEE!

Okay everyone… this is my beautiful bestie from (I think) 5 years ago? It was the end of my cosmo school journey, I was in a weird limbo phase of being a young 20 year old and my bestie wanted a haircut!

I was so excited to practice on her, I had been wanting to give her a good haircut for a while at this point. And needless to say, it was a HAIRCUT 🫣

We chatted a bit before I started chopping my little fingers away. She wanted to get rid of all her dead hair, keep the V shape at the bottom and add some layers to give movement.

I told her “you got it” and well..

One thing led to another, and I cut off a little (a lot) too much than what she was thinking I was going to do 🫣

Turns out, consulting the client is SO extremely important!! Who would’ve thunk it? 🤩

Now, she had a significant amount of chemical damage and dryness on the last third of her hair. To me, that’s what she was thinking her dead hair was.

To her, it was only the last two inches MAX!

I learned in that moment, what a client sees as damage and what a professional sees as damage is two completely different point of views!

I should’ve shown her what I was thinking should be cut, instead I just got to chopping!

She is always in my head when a client tells me to “just cut off all the dead stuff” and she is the reason why I will ALWAYS (no matter how little or how much you want off) show you how much I am cutting before I do.

It’s a great thing she wasn’t mad at me, especially since we lived together at that point LOL that would’ve been 😬awkward😬
