"Trauma" behind the inability to lose weight (name calling, physical and emotional abuse, low self worth ) is often overlooked as a cause of weight gain/inability to lose, and not taken into account in a weight loss program.
The desire to lose weight and keep it off successfully has to be paired with mental, physical, emotional support, which will lead to positive lifestyle changes.
Our diet culture only takes into account loss of "physical weight", but doesn't account for releasing "mental and emotional weight" (depression, shame, failures, not being "enough") which, if not recognized in each individual and dealt with alongside diet and weight loss, keeps us coming back to the frig.
