Dear Friends,

Let me open by saying what an honor and privilege it has been to serve you, my dear friends. In 2007 when I made the decision to dive into my dream career and open Skin Couture, I knew it would require hard work and dedication. What I didn't know at the time was how truly blessed I would be to have so many wonderful people share my journey.

Because health and wellness has always been my passion, sharing my knowledge and promoting skin health was at the very core of what I envisioned for Skin Couture. I believe, with your help, I have achieved my goal.

With that said, it is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement.

I had planned to pick a date sometime later this year. However, as fate would have it, a broken arm has picked the date for me. With a recuperation period stretching almost into summer, I don't see returning to Skin Couture as a reasonable option.

As I said, I have mixed emotions about retiring. I will miss Skin Couture, the friends I have made, seeing the people I serve leave the salon all fresh and relaxed, and knowing I may have, if even for a while, helped restore a person's well-being.

I am also excited to start a new chapter in my life. My husband and I look forward to making plans and seeing what gifts the next journey will reveal.

Let me close by again saying what an honor and privilege it has been to serve you. You put your trust in me and in Skin Couture, and for that I am truly grateful.

Are we really moving into the final week of January already?!

Since most "experts" tell us we lose steam right about now trying to keep our , I thought I'd take a minute to share what I've learned through my years of making resolutions:

#1 - Don't go for grandiose.
#2 - Don't be vague.
#3 - Do be positive.
#4 - Do choose personal goals.
#5 - Do share those goals.

You know how it goes. Big dreams don't come true if you don't take the small steps each day.

Map out your daily strategy.

It can be as simple as laying out your walking clothes before you go to bed. When you wake up, they are right there, ready for you to say 'yes' to your exercise goal.

It can be as simple as gathering two or three healthy recipes to focus on this week. Write out a shopping list and choose your days to create your meals. Do NOT write out menus for a month; that is a sure way to get overloaded, which inevitably causes burnout.

In my line of work, it can be as simple as choosing the least complicated skin care routine that offers the best results with minimal effort. If your resolutions include treating your skin better, I can help you with this simple strategy.

As you can see, it's all about fitting your goals into your daily life, making changes to your routine to simplify, and moving ahead in small steps. Because, as we know, small steps add up to results over time that become habits. And that's what we want - our resolutions to become habits.
