Happy Pride month! Heres a list of events as well as a link to Peoria Proud to find resources as well as information on volunteering. A great way to meet like minded people if you are new to Peoria. Pride Month kicks off in June, and organizations in Peoria and Bloomington-Normal are planning several events throughout the summer. Full story in the comments.

First Fridays in Peoria are the perfect opportunity to support local artists, enjoy live music, and get engaged with the community. It's a great time and June's events are just around the corner!

This year there's even more live music to enjoy too! With multiple grants, we're excited to support local artists with paid opportunities performing at venues throughout the Greater Peoria region. In June you can enjoy live performances at Soulside Healing Arts, Casa de Arte , Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, and more!

24 May is Pansexual and Panromantic Awareness and Visibility Day – but what exactly does it mean to be Pan?

To be pansexual is to have a sexual or romantic attraction not limited by gender, or gender identity, while to be panromantic is the same except without the sexual attraction. Attraction is not dependent on gender; pan people are attracted to the person before anything else. However, this doesn’t mean they’re attracted to anyone and everyone!

On May 22, we honor the life and legacy of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician in California and a leader of the American Civil Rights Movement. Time magazine included Harvey Milk on a list titled “The 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century.” Milk was not only an advocate for the LGBT community, but for all minorities. He believed in safe, strong neighborhoods and supported public education, affordable childcare, and equal rights for all.
