The crown stays on, even when the journey gets bumpy. 👑🏾
I had to take a second to handle some life stuff and get my health back on track, but I’m back in the booth! It got me thinking about the Great Migration. 🧳💇🏾♀️
Imagine moving your whole world with just a few suitcases. Our ancestors didn’t have much room, but they made sure their hair tools made the cut. In the middle of the most stressful moves in history, keeping their hair maintained was a way to keep their dignity.
It’s a reminder that caring for ourselves isn’t an “extra”—it’s a necessity, especially when things get hectic. 💪🏾✨

Our hair is our history in every strand.
Before there were ‘Super Salons,’ there was Rose Meta Morgan. 👑✨
For Day 19, we are honoring the woman who made Harlem the beauty capital of the world. Rose Meta Morgan opened the House of Beauty in 1942, and she didn’t just style hair—she built a sanctuary for Black women to feel like royalty.
At a time when the world tried to tell us we weren’t enough, Rose created a space that celebrated our total glamour. She was a pioneer of the “Full Service” salon and a reminder that our beauty is an empire. 🕊️💎
If you could spend a whole day at a luxury “House of Beauty,” what’s the one service you’re getting first? 💇🏾♀️🧖🏾♀️ Let me know in the comments!

More than just a comb. It’s a 6,000-year-old statement. ✊🏾🏺
Today for Day 18, we’re looking at the Afro Pick. While it’s the ultimate icon of the 1970s “Black is Beautiful” movement, its roots go all the way back to Ancient Egypt.
It has always been a tool designed to celebrate our volume and our texture. When the fist was added to the handle in 1969, it became a symbol of cultural pride that we still carry today. 🕊️✨
Do you still have a classic pick in your hair drawer, or are you team “finger detangle”? Let me know below! 👇

HairTools
That sizzle is a sound we never forget. 🔥💨
For Day 17, we’re looking at the tool that defined generations: The Hot Comb. While Marcel Grateau originally created it in France, it was Madam C.J. Walker who saw the potential for our community. She widened the teeth and marketed it as a way to manage and style our hair with ease.
It wasn’t just a tool; it was the start of the “Press and Curl” era and the foundation of the modern Black salon. 🕊️✨
Who else remembers the smell of the stove and the fear of getting your ears “clipped” by the hot comb? 😂 Drop a ‘🔥’ if you lived through the press-and-curl days!

A traffic light and a relaxer walked into a repair shop... 🚦💇🏾♂️
Today for Day 16, we’re talking about the genius Garrett Morgan. While he’s famous for saving lives with the gas mask and the traffic signal, his contribution to the hair world was a complete accident!
He was just trying to fix sewing machines when he discovered a chemical that could straighten fibers. That discovery led to the first-ever chemical hair straightener. Whether you’re team natural or team relaxed, you have to respect the accidental genius of a Black inventor. 🕊️✨
Did you grow up knowing Garrett Morgan for the traffic light, or did you know about his hair empire too? 🚦 vs 🧴 Let me know below!

Let’s talk about the mentor who paved the way. ☕️👑
Most of us grew up hearing about Madam C.J. Walker, but today we’re looking at the woman who taught her everything: Annie Turnbo Malone.
Before the “Walker System,” there was the Poro System. Annie was a self-taught chemist who built a multimillion-dollar empire, a massive beauty college, and a global network of agents long before her student, Sarah Breedlove (Madam C.J.), took the world by storm.
The rivalry between them was real, but so was the impact. Annie was a philanthropist who gave away millions to our community and set the standard for what a Black woman mogul could be. 🕊️✨
Do you think Madam C.J. was right to take what she learned and start her own brand, or should she have stayed loyal to the woman who gave her a start? Let’s debate in the comments! 👇

It’s actually a little sad it took so long to be top fan to my own page😂🤣😂
Excited to share that I just got recognized as one of Tishawnna Coleman's top fans! 🎉
To love us is to care for our crown—especially when we feel like we’ve lost it. 👑❤️
I had to dig into the archives for this one. I had recently had my 4th baby here, and if I’m being honest, I wasn’t feeling like myself. I didn’t feel “pretty enough” to go to the event we were getting ready for.
But my man stepped in. He didn’t just “do my hair”—he reminded me who I was. 🕊️✨
Historically, our hair rituals have always been a space for healing and restoration. Sometimes, the most revolutionary act of Black Love is just helping your partner hold their head up high.
Ladies, has your man ever tried to do your hair? Did he slay it or was it a struggle? 😂 Let’s talk in the comments! 👇❤️

4 heads of hair later... and I’m reminded that Sunday has always been for the crown. 🕊️✨
From the plantation to our living rooms today, the “Sunday Hair Ritual” was born out of a need for care, community, and preparation. It’s more than just a style; it’s a sacred tradition of self-love.
