Last year I spoke on Madam C.J Walker; I didn’t want to repeat facts when I reshared the post so I figured I’d make a post about Annie Turbo Malone.

Annie was born in 1877 in Illinois. She started out manufacturing her own line of non-damaging hair care products specifically for African American women. She sold “Wonderful
Hair Grower” door to door. As part of her marketing, she even gave away free treatments in her door to door sales. By 1902, she had a store front, traveled to conferences in southern states, and had ads in black presses.

Madam CJ Walker, was a selling agent of hers and their paths fully intermingled in Poro College’s development (a cosmetology school and also severed the African American community).

Turbo has a legacy in Howard college and renowned in the beauty industry for what she has accomplished for the black community.
