Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington - gives Trump et al a lesson in compassion & the dangers of contempt .

Brilliantly spoken and extremely brave.

If you worship these 'fake idols' them listen to what a r eal Christian has to say.

I have no problem with those who disagree on immigration policy, but if you are spewing hate & lies and any type of racial hate about immigrants, then I don't want to know you.

If you want to do better, read John Rawls concept of the "natural lottery". None of us can control where/ what country or conditions we were born into. You can work hard to achieve the 'American Dream" and have some success but not all are so fortunate or lucky.

Until you've walked in another's shoes ( and many walk for miles barefoot), then don't judge them as lesser.

And travel, travel, travel. The best education in life. Learn about other cultures and not only how they live but how they survive.

Martin Scorsese Talk & Tribute, hosted by Stephen Colbert

This was such a wondrous night. To be in such an intimate setting with Martin Scorsese, as storyteller, evoking memories from my own Sicilian ancestry and family, sprinkled with stories about his youth in New York , his pal Deniro and how he navigated a career of highs and lows ( depressed in the hospital when Deniro arrives with the script for Raging Bull.) and telling it all with grace, humility, humor and with a remarkably doom-eager curiousity and zest for life - it was sublime.

I think his daughter, Francesca, was seated across the aisle. In all, the Scorsese's just seem like decent humans, who happen to be wildly successful.

The same goes for Stephen Colbert - I had no idea of the contributions to the film community, he and his wife Evelyn have made ( she chairs the Montclair Film Festival).

The best part of the night was handing Scorsese a typewritten letter and film packet by my Lebanese brother-in-law. I watched as the director, slightly slumped, placed the big envelope on top of his glass award and balanced it all with his chin - hoping he would read its content with the same curiosity - he has
for everything.
About Hisham : he grew up in war-torn Beirut, going to the Piccadilly Theatre, which doubled as a bomb shelter. It was in this theatre where his love of film began - watching the greats - Hawks, Ford, Chaplin, Hitchcock and more. His films speak of exile, dissonance, and betrayal. He has won many awards for his short films, including the Rome Prize.
So, it might sound far-fetched, but I'm hoping Scorsese watches his films.

I read that the director corresponds with fans via his typewriter and even face-timed one not too long ago.
So, I seized the moment, and we shall see.....
Regardless, it was a memorable night.
