We’re so excited to celebrate the South Street Banner Art Project with an opening reception next Friday, October 23, from 6-8PM as part of our Fourth Friday programming!

We invite neighbors, local business owners, community members, and artists to join us in celebrating this beautification project and hear directly from the artists about the inspiration behind their designs.

You may have noticed the new art banners recently installed along South Street! In January 2026, we put out an open call inviting local Philly artists to share their unique visions of South Street through original designs. After receiving more than 600 incredible submissions, we selected 20 designs that capture the corridor’s vibrant culture, character, and spirit. The banners now line South Street from Front Street through 11th Street.

The South Street Banner Art Project is a public art initiative led by the South Street Headhouse District that transforms the corridor into a more vibrant, welcoming, and visually engaging destination.

Featuring original artwork by local Philadelphia artists, the project aims to celebrate the city’s creative community while enhancing the streetscape and honoring South Street’s longstanding history as a place for artists, creatives, and countercultures.

This beautification initiative aims to foster a stronger sense of place, strengthen community pride, and create a more memorable experience for residents and visitors alike.

It may look a little different than Fall Fest, but on 10/17 from 12-8PM we’re bringing just as much excitement with live music, food, drinks, games, shopping, and more!

Still reeling from how absolutely fantastic it was to help host Philadelphia’s first-ever Parallel Parking Championship a week ago! From the decked-out cars to the incredible outfits, it was a perfect celebration of the kind of city pride you can only find in Philly! 🚗🏁🏆

While the PPPA and the Parallel Parking Championship brought so much joy to our city, we know there’s a more serious reality: our streets remain dangerous for ALL of us, and too many families have lost loved ones to preventable traffic violence.

If you joined us for the event, or if you want to make a meaningful impact on street safety in Philadelphia, PPPA asks that you please consider donating to Families for Safe Streets Greater Philadelphia. The organization is comprised of victims of traffic violence and families whose loved ones have been killed or severely injured by aggressive, reckless, or careless driving, behavior enabled by a dangerous street design. They represent the full range of greater Philadelphia’s rich diversity and collectively demand an end to traffic violence.

Get ready for Halloween on South Street! 🎃🕷️👻 Join us for a spooktacular day of Halloween fun featuring activities for all ages throughout the District!

Here’s what’s in store:

🎭 1:00-1:30PM: Halloween Costume Promenade & Vintage Car Parade (Starting Location: 5th & South)

🚗 1:30-4:00PM: Trunk-or-Treat at Headhouse Plaza

🍫 4:00-8:00PM: SHCA’s Halloween at Headhouse - Take a stroll through the spooky Shambles for a Halloween trick-or-treating experience!
