Meet this week's Wellness Wednesday facilitator, Mr. Jeremy! He was quite the drill sergeant, and did not cut us any slack. Thanks, J!

I was so excited to end May Movement activities with this awesome charity event. RootsRockRun5K is an annual race in Germantown Philly, which raises money for public health programs in marginalized communities. This morning, my 8yo and I ran, and finished this 5k with her running club. We are both feeling proud and tired.

The Little's eczema is in a flare and as usual nothing is working. I've been busy as a bee grading, writing and teaching, and left her skin to the amateurs. Welp, today, I am in the kitchen blending some MamaLei love for my love. Since I was in there I decided to whip up some salves and sprays.

This past month has been very important to my overall health and well-being. GrassROOTS Community Foundation launched the May Movement Initiative in an effort to encourage social cohesion and community wellness, and build partnerships with local merchants and organizations. It has been a phenomenal experience, at least from my personal experience and perspective. For example, today's May Movement involved our regular stretching, stretching and neighborhood walk with both folk between 2 and 82 years young. I really missed my weekly chats with Ms. R, as she was not there today; I plan to check on her this week to be sure she is doing well. Radiation is foreign and harsh on the body and mind. Ya'll keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

I did however get to chat with the lovely Ms. C, who shared her active search for employment as a CNA (any leads would be great as she will meet me in the park next week.) She also shared her personal health story, and the encouragement she felt today being with the group, and being able to talk with someone about what's going on with her RIGHT NOW! I have been abundantly blessed by Philly.

I love that my 7yo asked, " how did Wellness Wednesday go today? " Internalized positive health behaviors begin with conversations...turned action!

The first installment of May Movement Philly included rain, stretching, rain, Jumping Jacks, rain, Jump Rope, rain, walking, RAIN RAIN RAIN, and finally a community flyer campaign in the RAIN for May Movement Philly. I also had multiple opportunities to share the work and mission of GrassROOTS Community Foundation with my Germantown Community. A very kind brother offered to help me get all my things out of the rain, shared his health story with me in the process, and committed to joining us next week.

I hope to see you next week as we move with Michael Armstrong and F**T Techonlogy.
