It’s been about a year since we did color on the beautiful , and she’s summer ready now!

We did a dry curly cut first, since she wears her hair curly everyday. Then did some foils and a hand painting technique to lighten her to a medium gold (level 8). Low and slow to preserve the interfaith of her hair and curl pattern.

After shampoo and tone using The Present Time in 8,22; 7,12; 9,0 with 7 vol, we used Love Smoothing Perfector, Love Hair Smoother, OÍ Oil, and This is a Shimmering Mist to blow dry and flat iron, refining the cut afterward.

My gorgeous friend was trapped in a black hair color rut… she loves edgy, so for the past year, we’ve taken inspiration from Billie Eilish and been doing ghost roots with different colors while growing out her old, black color.

But the day finally came! The black had faded enough, and the roots had grown enough, that I wanted to give her something with less edge and more sophistication. The goal was a rich, auburn shade all over.

All products from

Process:
1-bleach wash at the bowl with Progress + 40 vol and NaturaTech nourishing shampoo. Process visually for 10 min. No conditioner! Used DeDe Mist to even porosity.
2-Neutralize and fill with View 7,34 + splash of Ruby intensifier (no activator) on previously lightened parts. Squeegee application.
3-Root color: Mask with Vibrachrom 5,0 (10g), 6,0 (5g), 6,34 (25g) mixed at 1:1.5 with 10vol. Process 15 min before pull thru.
4-Pull thru: The Present Time 5,34 (20g), 5,0 (2g) mixed 1:2 with 7vol. Apply from end of root application to ends. Brush root to ends with color blending brush to melt.

Process 20 min.
Minu shampoo and conditioner. Styled with OI all-in-one Milk, This is a Medium Hold Modeling Gel, and This is a Primer.

This class was so much fun! I got to do a demo of our new alkaline Demi-permanent color line, The Present Time, with the stylists at in Cave Creek this morning!

This class was so fun, and we got to take a look at the color’s shine and vibrancy as well as the science behind its development.

I did notice in the candid photos, though, that I should probably smile more when someone is taking pics! 🤣🤣🤣
