Carried Away Salon & Spa

I want to say a couple of things since I've let everyone know where I'll be working.

Long one so have a seat if you plan to read it🤷🏽‍♀️

First, to my clients that waited for me to make a decision, thank you.
My intention is to reduce the number of days I'm behind the chair and to focus on some other opportunities that have come along on the days I'm not doing hair.

I honestly assumed that after four weeks, some of my clients had decided to move on since I needed more time to figure things out. I am taken aback and pleasantly surprised at how wrong I was about that. Don't get me wrong, a few have decided to move on, and that's ok. That's part of this industry in general, fire or no fire. I do not own people but I am always grateful for the time they chose to spend in my chair.

With the majority of my clients sticking with me, I am going to work more days than originally planned, at least through the end of this month, then we can book future appts on the new "set" days. Please believe me when I say I am not upset about this. Just explaining what's to come.

The other thing I want to mention again is the support I've received from other salons throughout all of this.

This can be a dog-eat-dog industry at times, so to be overwhelmed with so much love and support from stylists and owners in such a competitive world... has blown me away with gratitude to each of them and I can promise you, this is a period of my life that I will never forget who showed up for me.

I try to be fairly level-headed and rational with most things in my life. I try to accept things that happen that I have no control over.

But I have to admit, this whole experience in waking up to your routine being gone....done....has really made me look at some things in a new light.

I've never been someone who wants to be defined by what I do for a living but I'll have to say, i have felt completely lost these past four weeks.

One thing I know for sure... I have missed the one on one connections with my clients!

I would like to thank everyone who had a part in the benefit that took place last night.

It's a very humbling position to be in as one of the recipients of a fundraiser when I am used to being the one donating to the benefits with a gift certificate or products.

A special thank you to Top Shots by Jen for organizing this event, to the Liquid Lounge for hosting, to John Tulanko for performing with his gifted voice, to SO many local businesses and individuals that graciously donated so many generous gifts to be raffled, and to everyone who came out last night to show their support.
I would never ask for help, nor expect it, so for all of this to take place has really touched my heart.

My biggest hope right now is that we continue this community spirit and continue to support all of our small businesses. We do what we do out of passion, to bring something special to our city that is part of our hearts that we want to share with all of you. We can't do this alone.

As many of you already know, there was a fire on Tues night of this week that started in the building attached to the building that Carried Away is in.

We (me, my landlord who I rent the space from, and his staff) were fortunate compared to our neighbors. However, significant water damage was done and it has been determined that my salon space will need to be completely gutted, as well as many repairs to the rest of the building.

Unfortunately, this is not likely to be a quick process.

With that being said, it is with a very heavy heart that i have to announce that Carried Away Salon and Spa will be closing indefinitely.💔

At this time, I have alot to think about and decisions have to be made in a timely manner. I will let my clients know what my next step is as they deserve to know what my game plan is as soon as possible.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Piqua Fire Dept and the surrounding depts that worked throughout the night and into the early morning to try and prevent this fire from spreading even more.

I would also like to thank the numerous salons that have reached out to me and offered their love and support at this time as well as the overwhelming love from family, friends and so many of you here.

Thank you for these last 13 years my friends 🙏🏽🥹
