Habari Gani!
Day 3: Ujima which means collective work and responsibility
The third principle encourages self-criticism and personal evaluation, as it relates to the common good of the family/community. Without collective work and struggle, progress is impossible. The family and the community must accept the reality that we are collectively responsible for our failures, as well as our victories and achievements. Discussions concerning each family member’s responsibility prove helpful in defining and achieving family goals.
Come together with family & friends and find a project to complete today.

Habari Gani!!
Day 2 of Kwanzaa is Kujichagulia which means to be self determined.
Each person must ask her or himself three basic questions:
1. Who am I?
2. Am I really who I say I am?
3. Am I all that I ought to be?
These are questions of history and culture, not simply queries or questions of personal identity. They are questions of personal identity. More profoundly, they are questions of collective identity, based and borne out in historical and cultural practice. And the essential quality of that practice must be the quality of self-determination.
Focus on being more self-determined today

Day 1: Umoja
The principle of Umoja which means Unity speaks to our need to develop and sustain a sense of oneness, righteous and rightful togetherness in the small and large circles and significant relations of our lives, from family and friendship to community and the cosmos. It urges us to practice a principled and peaceful togetherness rooted in mutual respect; justice; care and concern; security of a person; and equitably shared goods. And it calls on us to stand in solidarity with the oppressed, suffering and struggling peoples of the world in the cooperative achievement of these goods.
Focus on being more together today 🫂

Granny🤍
I would like to take this time to let our followers in. Vida H. A woman who worked over 90 years, from the time she was able to use her hands. Working in Jamaica Spanish Town Market. God-fearing. Loving. So selfishly selfless. Has said her fair wells to this world and has gone what seems to be her new home. 😞😞🙏🏽
We have been missing because it was unexpected and so sudden! So many plans we had for her. Showing how her Jamaican Black Castor Oil that she cultivated with her bare hands, would take over the USA. To show her that her skills would forever be seen and appreciated. For a while, we thought let’s just close the business. The dream died. The drive died. The whole point DIED😭.
But as time passed, and as I saw this picture in our living room, watching me and following me in the room. I knew she wasn’t okay with our train of thought. The dream didn’t die. The business isn’t done. A legacy has begun, the business is just starting. All her hard work wasn’t for us to give up, it was to give us the drive to take this company beyond the USA but the world. She shared her methods, her recipes and way of living for a reason. So that our kids, their kids and their kids too, can carry on what this will be. HER LEGACY!
I remember being on the plane saying I would write a tribute, I have no words! I was so mad. Then I found myself writing on my iPad, which I’ll share with Yall. I remember getting to end, ready to lie, “I will definitely carry on your Legacy”. Knowing in myself I was lying to myself because i was “done” sigh.
So we say see you later Granny! Rest well! Knowing we will not stop! We will not falter! We will not fear because we know you and GOD has your eyes upon us! We will do everything it takes to make you proud. Rest up Granny! You did the damn thing🥰🫂💕🫶🏽 🇯🇲

Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
The Emancipation Proclamation, issued by President Abraham Lincoln on Jan. 1, 1863, declared freedom for enslaved people in Confederate states. However, it took over two years for the news to reach enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas.
On June 19, 1865, Union Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and announced the end of slavery, effectively emancipating the remaining enslaved individuals in Texas. This momentous event became known as Juneteenth, a combination of "June" and "nineteenth."
Juneteenth has become an occasion to honor ancestors, recognize their sacrifices, and celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black Americans to the nation. The holiday is marked by various activities such as parades, picnics, musical performances, historical reenactments and educational events, fostering a sense of community, unity and pride.
It offers an opportunity to educate and raise awareness about the history of slavery, the struggles endured by African Americans, and the ongoing fight against systemic racism. Juneteenth empowers individuals to engage in conversations, advocate for equality, and work towards creating a more just society.
Juneteenth has gained increasing recognition and support at both the local and national levels. Numerous states have officially recognized Juneteenth as a state holiday or observance, dedicating resources to public events and educational initiatives.
In 2021, Juneteenth was officially declared a federal holiday in the United States, further solidifying its significance and the importance of acknowledging the legacy of slavery.
Juneteenth is an occasion to honor the past, address present challenges and strive for a more inclusive and equitable future. It stands as a momentous celebration of freedom, resilience and the indomitable spirit of the African American community.

“In a world where there is an urgent need to move beyond petty and perverse purposes and narrow and narcissistic concerns, the principle and practice of Nia (Purpose) provides us with an expansive ethical alternative. For it teaches us the collective vocation of bringing, increasing and sustaining good in the world, and insuring the well-being, health and wholeness of the world.”
Dr. Maulana Karanga

Day 4: Ujamaa
“In a world where greed, resource seizure, and plunder have been globalized with maximum technological and military power, we must uphold the principle and practice of Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) or shared work and wealth.
