This is me. This is what I do. If you've been missing my yoga teachings, I've transformed them into focusing on the power of voice and self expression. Today is , most of you following this page are following it because of Elsie's Yoga Class, my very first podcast. Read the description of this image to get a bit of behind the scenes of why podcasting was such a life line for me. Have you listened to a podcast lately?

The voices in my head saved my life.

Or *podcasting* saved my life.

Dramatic, dotcha think?

Might I be exaggerating a little bit?

I'm not.

December '05 I got an iPod for Christmas & I decided to give these things called "podcasts" a try.

I started by listening to educational courses that were being podcast, entire semester courses from Universities. I downloaded an anatomy course and a computer 101 course.

Within that computer 101 course I heard another podcaster do a segment. His podcast was called The Typical PC User.

That was the first podcast I fell in love with.

This podcaster and I became friends and he eventually inspired me to start my own podcast...but that's a story for another day.

I really dove *deep* into this rabbit hole. I listened to podcasts all.the.time.

These voices in my head became my lifeline.

When I discovered podcasting i was in a toxic and dangerous relationship. I thought that I had no way out. I felt powerless.

The voices in my head helped me make the hardest most courageous choices that I’ve ever made in my life, not because of anything specific that they said, nor even the subject matter of the podcasts, but because of the deep connection that I had with these human beings sharing their voices with the world.

They were always in my ears.

They empowered me to choose myself.

None of them know how powerfully they affected me. I never really reached out to them to tell them

The heart and soul of podcasting, it’s not about download numbers, or whether you are en expert and need to GET OUT THERE!!! or FOMO (because people are podcasting because…FOMO😑)

Podcasting is about people connecting with people in an intimate way - that could possibly change their life.

It changed mine.

I chose to pick up a microphone and speak because I HAD to, to survive.

And it was in the process of podcasting. It was in the doing that the transformation happened.

I would hate for you to think your voice is not necessary or important.

This is why I mentor podcasters.

You never know who's needs to have your voice in their head. I want to make sure it gets there.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

If you feel this strongly about the power of podcasting and your voice, consider working with me in my mentorship experience, The E-League. We begin October 15. Here's the info http://elsieescobar.com/the-e-league

Helloooooooo!!!!! I've been MIA for YEARS!!!! Well...this is what I've been up to. I have finally launched another FB Page that is my own Elsie Escobar "Public Figure" page which is where most of my work will be showcased and it's all about podcasting! As you know, Elsie's Yoga Class has been around for a long time, but *gulp* I've kinda let it go 😨 BUT am keeping it open in case I do step into the seat of "yoga teacher" again! But for now, I am wearing a new hat and it's that of Podcasting Advocate and Pundit. You can read about who I am and what I stand for via the image caption on my new page! If any of what I mention resonates with you, I'd be honored if you continue your journey with me by Liking and Following my Page! Also, if you wanna say hi, drop a comment! It's been SOOOOOOO LONG! xoxo

Hello! I'd ❤️ to introduce myself through the lens of the Podcasting Industry, as a Podcasting Advocate and one of the only female podcasting pundits.

I've been in the industry for over a decade. I haven't been too visible because I've mostly worked behind the scenes in supporting podcasters through education and information by being Libsyn's Community Manager.

It's time to take up space.

Every year, the conversation about the podcasting industry expands.

Mainstream media continues to pay attention.

Public media and radio recognize the power to re-ignite their stagnant industry through podcasting.

Money is being poured into emerging companies that are looking to shake things up in the space.

Premium newsletters, blogs, Medium articles, and more continue to cover the podcasting space, but something is still missing.

The root of podcasting is in its continued impact on society, culture and new media and it’s ability to give a voice to those that are often left voiceless.

As podcasting matures, the industry is ready, and has been prepared to bring forward more impactful conversations beyond discussing:

● How to make a podcast?
● What gear do you need?
● How do you get more listeners?
● What are the viable business models?

The Podcasting Industry can handle expanding the conversation beyond advertising, measuring downloads making money.

That is not to say that the above subjects are not relevant, they are, but it’s time to expand and mature the conversation.

Podcasters have a history of being culture shifters, change makers, fringe dwellers, and risk takers.

There is a wealth of podcasts out there that have had a massive impact on society, culture, inclusion, diversity and creating communities of belonging that are often overlooked or dismissed because of what I consider *short-sided measurement standards*.

My work is in advocating and mentoring podcasters whose work is heavily embedded in social and cultural topics, serving underrepresented populations and to those addressing social justice issues through podcasting.

I love to work with seasoned podcasters 😏

Plus, bringing to light problems of access, socioeconomics and infrastructure MUST BE ADDRESSED for podcasting to grow if not, it will remain content that will benefit the privileged few that can afford iOS devices with access to unlimited data. 😒

For those of you that know first hand the power of podcasting through the content of your show, how it's created access for those that often aren't being heard or given voice, the power of communities of inclusion and belonging I’d love for us to work together, hand in hand to refine, bolster, and amplify all you are already doing.

I'll be sharing information and filtering news and updates in the podcasting industry on this page through the lens of Podcasting Advocate addressing all things I mentioned above! I would love for us to work on all of this together, I'd be honored if you liked this page 😊

Happy Mother's Day!

I for one am having a sweet sweet day. I'd thought I'd share a little something with you...since I have in fact been MIA, the topic - mothering as a spiritual practice.

Hunter Clarke-Fields from Hunter Yoga invited me to come onto her Yoga Story Projects.

I reveal how I got into yoga in the first place.

How I hit a wall while as a mother of two little ones and the reason that I ended up there.

I also share the one thing that got me out of feeling disconnected, isolated and kept me sane- so surprising and at the same time so NOT.

If you are a Mama and are looking for some connection or simply to hear another Mama share experiences, you'll enjoy it!

Everyone enjoy your day!

I've always known the power of our ecosystem, but it's not until you create SPACE that you truly recognize the magnitude.

We as a species, are amazing. We have the ability to morph, shift, change and adapt.

Our insides adapt to what's going on outside.

Our environment reflects what's going on inside.

It's that innate inner power that keeps us alive and evolving.

It is the single most important ability that we have as human beings, whether we are aware of it or not - and we will continue to evolve - individually or collectively whether we consciously participate in the process or not.

It is up to us to *choose* to do so in the most auspicious and empowering way, not only for ourselves, but for all of us.

❝ Only nature refuses to judge or to imagine a future. This means that our natural human condition presents no advantage to our creating a more humane world. For that, we must invest in our abilities as cultural and political beings, as spiritual beings creating more than the imperatives of survival. ❞ - Douglas Brooks & Dunn

Our world does not automatically become all we want it to be. We must choose to act. We must choose to participate and take actions to create the world we want to live in.

Are you willing to have the required conversations to reflect your highest spiritual aspirations, your most vibrant connected experience with your bodies, your environment and your local ecosystem?

Are you willing to recognize and take responsibility to adapt, shift and change those things that no longer serve you - within or without?

Springtime is here, there is a natural detox that is craved by our bodies - a natural energy that dictates cleaning, growth, inspiration, and planting.

Come to Experience this weekend.

We will dive into Rasa - Juice, flavor - the primary nourishing waters of the body.

If you're full of yummy juicy essence, you'll body will feel vital and your mind deliciously content.

Life will be...well....juicy...and READY for the deeper conversations and to engage with the disquieting and the uncomfortable for conscious empowered evolution.

Developing habits that support optimal alignment within ever shifting and changing environment is SUPER important.

Let's do this - together!

Always fun to talk about my favorite things: health, yoga and podcasting!

The Smells Like Human Spirit podcast from Guy Evans is a fantastic well rounded conversation on social and political topics. Guy has amazing guests, inspiring conversation, and he happened to have asked me to be part of it!

Great time getting into the culture of yoga and health. He had some stellar questions for me :)

Give it a listen!

Are you asking your Ayurvedic Practitioner the Wrong Question? 01/13/2014

On January 25th I will begin to teach a once a month class over BYS Yoga. Although *I* don't view it as a yoga class, but an experience into what I call (which I'll get into more as we lead into the launch of the series)

This video by my friend Cate Stillman from Yogahealer and the amazing Dr. Claudia Welch touches on the WHY of this dream of mine.

http://youtu.be/XhQJcqogTck

As a teacher and mentor I want MORE than *just* a yoga asana class that I teach and people feel good in and then....??? Maybe I'll see them next time? Maybe they'll go deeper in their forward bends? Maybe their bodies will feel yummy?

But usually after class, is after class....and the *hit* is for the most part gone. On to our usual....

I'm far more interested in the MORE and the sustaining of the practice IN the world than in a general yoga class and taking the teachings, the insights, the inspiration WITH you.

I'm far more interested in developing deeper relationships with those that choose to step into me and their life dynamically, asking the deeper questions and letting go of the "what's a good pose for opening up my shoulders?" "what's a good practice if I have anxiety?" and choosing to go into ....

So watch the video and let me know your thoughts, and if you live in Pittsburgh, come and hang with me and other like minded and like hearted amazing beings choosing to live a more dynamic and vibrant life.
