One session can genuinely change how you feel. And that matters.
But if you've ever left a massage feeling incredible only to find the tension creeping back a week later, you already know that one session has a ceiling.
That's not a failure. That's just how the body works.
Chronic tension, stress patterns, and deeply held pain are things the body has been building for months, sometimes years. They don't unwind in a single hour. They unwind gradually, with consistent care that gives your nervous system repeated signals that it's safe to let go.
Each session builds on the last. The relief lasts a little longer. The patterns start to shift. Over time, what used to be your baseline starts to feel like the past.
That's the difference between feeling better temporarily and actually healing. And it's why we talk about consistency not because we want to sell you more sessions, but because that's genuinely how this works.
One session is a great start. Let's keep going. 🌿

Summer has a way of turning up the dial on everything, including what we ask of our bodies.
Whether you're training for a race, hiking Pittsburgh's trails, getting back into a workout routine, or just staying active through the heat, your muscles are working harder than usual. And without proper recovery, that effort can turn into tightness, soreness, or injury.
Sports massage at Healing Roots is designed specifically to support active bodies, enhancing mobility, improving flexibility, and helping your muscles recover more efficiently between efforts.
Our approach blends targeted techniques with mindful stretching. Most of the session is done clothed to allow for deeper engagement in movement-based work, with skin-to-skin contact incorporated only where direct treatment is needed for optimal results.
Whether you're preparing for an upcoming event or recovering from one, our goal is the same: support your body's natural healing process and help you stay in the activities you love.
Summer is short. Make the most of it and keep your body feeling good while you do.

We want you to know the people behind your sessions. Today, meet Nick and welcome them back!
Nick Sirio is a Licensed Massage Therapist at Healing Roots with a decade of mat-based bodywork experience. After taking some time away to travel, Nick is back in the treatment room and we couldn't be more excited to have them here.
Nick's path into this work is genuinely one of a kind. They were first introduced to Thai massage through acroyoga and, after being struck by its effectiveness and ingenuity, went deep — studying with mentors in Miami and Colombia, completing a two-week Thai massage immersion alongside a yoga teacher certification under the guidance of Syam Vallabhi Devi Dasi. Back in the US, they continued studying bodywork and yoga with Jose Rivera in Miami before earning their Massage Therapy license in 2024 from the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy, where they also expanded their practice to include Myofascial, Trigger Point, Sports, Swedish, and other modalities.
Nick's specialty is mat-based work, but their style translates fluidly to the table sessions are likely to include movement and acupressure alongside more familiar techniques, always flexible and highly specific to each client's goals.
Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or simply want to feel as good as possible in your body, Nick is ready.

If your neck and upper back are constantly tight, no matter how much you stretch, how many breaks you take, or how good your pillow is, there's a reason it keeps coming back.
It's not just a posture problem. It's a nervous system pattern.
When we're stressed, focused, or anxious, the body naturally activates muscles in the neck, shoulders, and upper back as part of its threat response. We hold our breath. We round forward. We brace even when we're just sitting at a desk.
Do that for 8 hours a day, and the nervous system starts to treat that state as the default. The muscles stay activated even when the stressor is gone. Stretching can release them temporarily, but without addressing the underlying pattern, they come right back.
This is why therapeutic massage is different from a quick fix. It doesn't just release the muscle, it works with the nervous system to help the body unlearn the pattern that keeps creating the tension in the first place.
That's the difference between feeling better for a day and actually changing something.

You've heard of massage. Maybe Reiki. But Craniosacral Therapy often raises a few questions (and we love that).
Here's a simple breakdown of what it is and who it's for.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on technique that works with the rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that surrounds and protects your brain and spinal cord. Using very light touch (about the weight of a nickel), a trained practitioner can detect subtle imbalances and help the body release them.
Because CST works directly with the nervous system, it can be especially effective for:
🌱Chronic headaches and migraines
🌱Neck, back, and jaw tension
🌱Stress, anxiety, and nervous system dysregulation
🌱 Post-concussion symptoms
🌱Fatigue and sleep disruption
🌱 Emotional holding patterns in the body
Sessions are quiet, deeply restorative, and often feel very different from what people expect. Many clients describe a profound sense of release both physical and emotional.
We offer Craniosacral Therapy at Healing Roots, Rain and Sarah are trained in CST and somato emotional release. If you've been curious, we'd love to talk through whether it might be a good fit for you.

Some sessions you leave feeling completely different. Lighter. Clearer. Like something you've been carrying for months finally shifted.
Other sessions, it takes a day or two to notice the change. Or you feel a little more tired than usual. Or the emotion that comes up surprises you.
That's not a sign something went wrong. That's your body processing.
Healing is rarely linear. It moves in layers and sometimes what feels like a plateau is actually the groundwork for the next release. This is especially true when you're working through chronic tension, nervous system patterns, or stress that's been building for a long time.
At Healing Roots, we talk about this openly with our clients. We don't want anyone to leave wondering what happened or whether the session "worked." We're here to support the whole process not just the 60 minutes on the table.
Consistency matters more than any single session. We're in it with you for the long game.

We want you to know exactly what to expect when you come to Healing Roots because transparency is part of how we build trust.
Here's what's included in every single session:
🌱A thorough intake conversation: Before the session, we talk. Not just about where it hurts, but about what's going on in your life. Because the two are always connected.
🌱A fully customized session: Built around what you actually need that day, not a one-size-fits-all routine.
🌱Therapeutic-grade essential oils: Selected based on your needs and preferences.
🌱A BioMat: An infrared mat that supports circulation, relaxation, and nervous system regulation (when appropriate for your session).
🌱 Hot towels: Used therapeutically, not just for comfort.
🌱 A debrief before you leave: we'll share what we noticed, what we'd suggest, and how to support your body between sessions.
No surprise add-ons. No upselling. No rushing you out the door. Just one client, one room, and our complete attention for the entire session.
This is what we mean when we say we do things differently.
