Instruction in the Creighton Model to improve women's health, discover underlying causes for infertility (via NaProTechnology) and naturally plan families.
In today's culture, it is commonly thought that our natural fertility is a disease that needs to be medicated. Many people suppress or abuse their fertility until they decide that it's time to have a baby. Our natural fertility is not a disease that needs to be fixed! A woman's body gives signs which tell her when she is fertile or infertile during her cycle. The Creighton Model FertilityCareTM Sy
A lovely Creighton Model client of mine is newly pregnant. During our pregnancy evaluation we discussed the fact that since she ovulated around day 28 of her cycle, a due date based on her last menstrual period would be wrong by 2 weeks. We calculated a due date based on her Creighton Model charting. I highly recommended that she discuss getting an early ultrasound with her doctor so that they would have accurate info for dating the pregnancy. If they based all the pregnancy decisions on the last menstrual period then there might have been concerns that baby was growing too slowly or pressure to deliver before baby was really full term. Just heard back from her - her early ultrasound dating exactly matched our Creighton Model calculation 😊 Creighton Model for the win!
Prayers for an easy pregnancy for this sweet mama - can’t wait to see a pic of her little one!

As a midwife, I always prefer that we begin at the most basic level to build our best health, so we always start with food. A vitamin will never replace a poor diet. However, when it comes to Vitamin D, we don't have as many dietary options to fulfill our daily needs. In addition to getting regular sunshine on our skin, salmon, whole eggs, fortified milk, and cod liver oil are good additions to our diet.
Most prenatal vitamins contain 400 IU per day of Vitamin D, however new research is showing that 4,000 IU per day are beneficial to prevent preeclampsia, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, and even pre term birth. Some of the benefit for preeclampsia may come in the weeks before a pregnancy test is even positive, while the placenta is beginning to form.
There are convincing benefits for all women to be tested for Vitamin D deficiency and optimize their levels, particularly if planning for a pregnancy. So far every woman I have tested has been low. Preventative medicine is good medicine! , , ,

Couples are becoming more and more interested in natural fertility regulation, but we need to be careful that there is solid science behind it that they can depend on!
A Company Claims Its $330 Thermometer Can Predict Fertility. But A Key Study Supporting It Was Just Retracted. The company claimed that the thermometer successfully predicted fertility in 99.4% of its customers. But the study that it was based on was pulled for selectively using data that made it look good — and undercounting possible unintended pregnancies.
