I was lucky enough to do some highlights on this lovely blonde! She wanted me to lighten up the dark areas, and lighten up around her face. I finished the style with some soft waves 💜

Here’s a beautiful before and after of some of the longest and thickest hair I’ve gotten to work with 🩷 Emilia came in wanting some long layers to accentuate her natural texture, and some trendy curtain bangs. I absolutely LOVE how this turned out 😊

I only JUST realized that when I’ve been posting on Instagram, it hasn’t been posting here!🫤 I’ll catch everyone up to date! Last month I had a few lovely sessions with Laurey Hansen Malling in my chair. Anyone who has heard my mom talk about her hair knows she had a very hateful relationship with it. All of my memories of my mom are of her with her hair all piled on top of her head for various different reasons. I wanted to give my mom a haircut that would feel light, have a ton of movement and layers, and something that would make her natural waves pop! 🤪 As for her color, we decided this gorgeous chocolate brown would be great on her and make her green/Hazel eyes stand out. I’m a little bummed we didn’t get pics that did her hair justice for the “after” portion, but the two of us have a VERY hard time staying serious.

On Jodi today, we did some highlights primarily around the the face, and some balayage pieces around the rest of the head to add lots of dimension and some warm caramel ribbon highlights. For the haircut, we added in some long layering and face framing to enhance her beautiful features.

Got to have some fun cutting curly hair today!

We learned a few different techniques to add weightlessness and volume to curly/ coiled hair. Instead of getting the hair wet to cut it, we started with it dry and the only tools we used were our fingers and shears. We follow how the hair naturally lays, so that we don’t cut it too short. So different from other types of cutting, but so much fun! The instructors referred to me as “Edward Scissorhands” a few times today while I got a little over zealous 😊😂

Learned this week a few different techniques of hair cutting as well as styling them to look sleek and trendy!

On this specific Mannequin head, we did a LOT of experimental coloring, so she has some pops of orange and red to her hair right now, and will eventually be clipped all the way down when we learn how to do clipper haircuts 😎

Curtain bangs for the WIN!! Today we learned a few parts of the process of cutting these super trendy, windswept, swooping bangs. These have been really trendy and are awesome for someone who wants bangs, but doesn’t want to go through that “awkward phase” of growing them out once they’re sick of them.

I have opening throughout some of the end of December, and am completely open for January!

Learned how to do some SUPER pretty natural “tease-y lights” yesterday at school! They are super trendy because of how natural and blended they look in the hair. Instead of just applying lightener to certain strands of hair and putting in foils, we take the section of hair and tease it upwards so some pieces are still the “natural” base brown color. In doing this, the highlights should never look chunky!
