Throughout my working life I have always worked in customer service jobs. Currently I'm a waitress and I understand how important it is to make your customers happy. I love making the experience worth it and enjoyable for the customer.

Acrylic Practice

I decided to start cosmetology school because I have always had a passion for creativity. Growing up I had many different ideas of what I wanted to do or where I wanted to be, but surprisingly I didn't realize I'd love this career until I started school. When I was in high school I thought about cosmetology, but was detoured away from it by negative feedback as far as money or it being a career that was too "dumb" for how smart I was book wise. Boy, were they wrong. Cosmetology is so much more than what it appears to be. It is hard work, it is chemistry, it is math, it is emotional, and most of all it is customer service. Working with my clients brings me so much happiness. The feeling you get when you give someone a new look that they love is something that makes this career so worth while. That is another reason why I think this career chose me almost. I love being around people, and good conversation. Being a empathetic, caring, and good listening human being is perfect for a cosmetology career. Another thing I like about this is it always brings something new to the table. There is so much room to grow even after you have been in the business. I'm excited to grow as a Cosmetologist now and in my future. I have about one more month left of school and honestly I don't really know where I want to work yet. There are so many choices out there and I need to start narrowing it down. I hope in 5 years I'm deep into my career and I love what I'm doing. Being in school I have become familiar with many products such as; Wella, Kenra, Redken, Mizani, Paul Mitchell, and more. Our school has offered us many specialty theory classes such as "Textured Hair", men's cuts, Fantastic Sams, Great Clips, Ulta, Edgemasters Sheers, and much more. The fashion shows at school have been something I highly enjoy and I've placed 1st in the last 3 I've participated in. I'm also a Student Ambassador and take pride in helping my fellow students. Another fun event was National Night Out "Meet Your Disney Princess". I dressed as Little Mermaid and my fellow students and I did face painting, crown making, mini manicures, mini hairstyles, excetra for the public directed towards children. I'm very excited to finish the school chapter of my life and to get my career rolling. The future holds great things for me, and I'm excited to keep learning every day to better myself as a person and as a Cosmetologist.
