Wednesday October 2nd, our final day

Tuesday October 3rd. Last day in Scotland, Edinburgh to be exact. We shopped, took in every last moment and view. How can bagpipes in the street ever get old?

Our group! I’m so grateful Sandi thought of me for this trip. I humbly represented dad on a trip he wanted to and should’ve been on. Most of us headed home Thursday, a couple headed to a new locale in Italy. Everyone was so welcoming and kind to this traveling newbie. The shared cookies, meals, stories and laughs made this trip extra special.

Tuesday October 1st Edinburgh Castle. One of several things I learned-a castle is for protection a palace is like your home. This place was so full of history, beauty, crown jewels, a pet cemetery, cannons-killed your cows! The cobblestones, the nooks and crannies and the wind were epic!

Monday September 30th. Linlithgow Palace remains. Stunning.

Saturday and Sunday in Oban. Another beautiful location. I love that this hotel has a gathering location where you could watch the weather change, chat with the peeps I’ve met on this trip and have afternoon tea. We leave for Edinburgh in the morning.

Thursdays adventures took us to Loch Ness to take a little cruise. Neptunes Staircase is a series of lochs for boats to pass through. It was a flash back to Dan and my Erie Canal trip. We had lunch at a little cafe and headed to Glencoe Visitors Center to see the three sisters mountain. We arrived at our final destination for the next couple days in Oban. We said goodbye to Billy our driver. We’ll miss him and his knowledge and humor. As always the views were stunning! Have I mentioned how much I love it here? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thursday was a travel day to Wick where we had lunch and went in search of a clock made by Alexander Bain. A great great…grandpa of three sisters in our group. His name was all over the town but his clock wasn’t there. It exists in a town several miles away but unfortunately not where we could see it in person. The views all day were lovely though.

Tuesday in Stirling. We walked up the hill towards Stirling castle and took a meandering tour past Holy Rude church where King James VI was crowned. The cemetary has a burial plot of the Bain family dating back to 1550. Three ladies in our travel group have the Bain family name. Relatives? That would be so cool! Our final destinations was Stirling castle, the views, the workmanship and all of that history is astounding. The ceiling in the great hall is fashioned after a boat hull. While it was being constructed a boat that size was being built just a few short miles away. The ingenuity back then. The views by the Robert the Bruce statue were unreal and that rainbow-hi dad.
