I’m pretty sure this is a bunion. I was unaware arch support shoes can do that and I work on my feet. Is that what it looks like and does anybody think I can reverse it myself without surgery? There’s absolutely no pain but I’m trying to fix it before there is.

Exactly this. You gotta use toe spacers that accommodate only the toes that need it. Many toes don't need a spacer. There are probably 30 DIFFERENT types. Doing all toes, is overdoing it.

Thanks for sharing all the detail. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. It sounds really frustrating, especially since it keeps coming back. I'm definitely not an expert, so I'd be hesitant to guess at the cause or recommend specific exercises. I'm curious what kind of shoes you wear most of the time and whether you've ever noticed any patterns before it flares up. If you're comfortable, a couple more angles might also help, like one from above while standing naturally and maybe one at floor level from behind so people can see your heel and ankle alignment. I spend way too much time around the barefoot shoe and foot health community, so I'd also be curious about your toe shape, toe splay, and arch. It may not be related, but it could provide a few more clues. Hopefully someone who's had pain in that exact spot, or someone with more knowledge of foot and ankle mechanics, can point you in the right direction.

DISCLAIMER: I am seeing a doctor but have not had a chance to review these MRI results yet. I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this diagnosis. I know it should not be taken as medical advice. I have been dealing with what I thought was sesamoiditis. The pain is intermittent but is in a flare up right now. Below is the MRI report, but I’m unable to determine what this would be sesamoiditis or turf toe? Has anyone else had this diagnosis? LIGAMENTS: Anterior and posterior tibiofibular ligaments: Intact. Anterior and posterior talofibular ligaments, and the calcaneofibular ligament: Intact. Deltoid and spring ligaments: Intact. Lisfranc ligament: Intact. TENDONS: Achilles: Intact. Peroneus longus and brevis: Intact peroneus longus tendon. Longitudinal split tear of the peroneus brevis tendon extending throughout much of its inframalleolar course. Intact distal insertion. Posterior tibialis, flexor digitorum longus, and flexor hallucis longus: Intact. Anterior extensor tendons: Intact. CARTILAGE: No high grade chondral abnormality. MARROW: No fracture. No diffuse marrow infiltrating process. Faint T2 hyperintensity within the first metatarsal head/neck junction adjacent to the sesamoids. Subcentimeter foci of T2 heterogeneity within the calcaneus, at the base of the anterior process on its dorsal aspect. Favor intraosseous ganglion cyst. OTHER: Sinus tarsi: No signal abnormality. Tarsal tunnel: No space occupying mass. Plantar fascia: Intact. Soft tissues: There is discontinuity between the intersesamoidal ligament and the lateral sesamoid, with minimal adjacent T2 hyperintense signal within the soft tissues.

I don’t feel any pain, though occasionally I’m aware of a little discomfort when im walking. My mom had surgery as hers were pretty bad, so guessing it’s hereditary. I wear wide Vans primarily, as well as flip flops. I’m not really aware of the to dos, not to dos to slow them from getting worse.
