Let’s talk about knots. It’s kind of a misnomer, because it really isn’t a knot at all, just contracted muscle tissue.
In the beginning of my career, I thought that I was “breaking up” tangled up muscle tissues with my elbows because that’s what I was taught. But looking at the research over the years and understanding what is actually going on has made me look at things a little differently.

Does carpal tunnel surgery help reduce pain and discomfort? Almost always, yes. But if you’re not addressing the inflammation that caused it in the first place, other issues can easily pop up.
I’m talking specifically about inflammation caused by repetitive motion, not CTS caused by hereditary or diagnosed inflammatory diseases.
The key for any repetitive strain injury treatment and prevention is consistent, routine care. There are a lot of pathways to care, but I highly recommend massage and physical therapy. The sooner you get started, the better your chances of avoiding serious injury.

In times where it feels like AI is infiltrating parts of life I never would have considered, it’s nice to have some job security.
It feels good knowing that a robot will never be able to intuit when a client needs a little extra attention in one area, feel tissues change under pressure when a clients nervous system finally feels safe to let go, or hold space for a client, however they show up, in the same way that I get to everyday.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is a compression of nerves, veins, or arteries in the thoracic outlet (the space between your neck and armpit) That compression most often shows up as pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or swelling in the neck, shoulder, arm, or hand.
TOS can be caused by many things, including anatomical anomalies, but it’s commonly caused by repetitive motions, poor posture, or traumatic events like whiplash.
I bring it up, because a lot of these symptoms mimic those of carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive strain injuries. And a lot of people assume that wherever they feel pain is where the “problem” is, but our bodies are more complex than that.
