Color Treats

I went on a short hike to Turtle Lake on Sunday. It's probably the last day of the year that will get this warm, 26°C, so it was the right time for a hike! 🏞️

I passed trees sporting leaves that were changing color, a sign that autumn had arrived. 🍂 At the end of the rocky trail, I sat down at the lake and enjoyed the warm sun for a while. 🌞

When I was satisfied with my visit, instead of walking back down the hill, I took the tram back down into the city. I had to share the little metal box with six other people, and it was so cramped and wobbly, but I had a great time!🚡💨

I brought a handful of autumn leaves home from my trip, and I added them to the pages in my Turtle Lake journal entry. 📔🍂

気温が26℃まで上がる暖かい日が今年最後であろう、とある日曜日、タートルレイクまでプチハイク🏞️

木々が色付き始め秋の訪れを感じる山道を登り🍂湖のほとりで暖かい日を浴びてのんびりくつろぐ🌞

湖で満喫した後、帰り道は小さなゴンドラを立ち乗りぎゅうぎゅうに8人でシェアして、グラグラ、ガタゴトふもとまで駆け降りるのが楽しい🚡💨

I’ve drawn some iconic Georgian dishes! 🎨🖌️

I absolutely love trying cuisines from other countries that I've never tried! 😋

Here’s what I’ve tried so far

• Khinkali: Dumplings filled with ground meat and soup, mushrooms, cheese or other fillings.

• Kharcho: A hearty soup made with beef, rice and tomatoes, seasoned with a traditional spice blend called khmeli suneli. It’s so warming and comforting! 😊💨

• Khachapuri: Georgia's signature cheese-filled bread.

• Lobiani: A flatbread stuffed with a savory kidney bean paste.

• Pkhali: Finely chopped vegetables mixed with a rich walnut paste, garlic, herbs, and spices.

• Badrijani: An appetizer of thin slices of eggplant wrapped around a walnut filling.

• Churchkhela: A traditional Georgian treat of walnuts or hazelnuts on a string, dipped in a thickened grape-juice mixture and dried.

There are still so many other dishes I want to try! I’m really looking forward to discovering even more new foods!😍✨

代表的なジョージア料理! 🎨🖌️

今まで全く知らなかった異国の料理を食べてみるのが大好き!😋

この中で挑戦したのは

• ヒンカリ (Khinkali): スパイシーなひき肉と旨味たっぷりの熱いスープを吸いながら食べるジョージア風小籠包⁈

• ハルチョー (Kharcho): 牛肉、米、トマト、「フメリスネリ」という伝統的なミックススパイスを煮込んだスープ
身体ぽかぽかホッとする😊💨

• カチャプリ (Khachapuri): ジョージアを代表するチーズパン　

• ロビアニ (Lobiani): インゲン豆のペーストが入った平焼きパン）

• プカリ (Pkhali): ほうれん草、ビーツ、キャベツなどの細かく刻んだ野菜に、クルミのペースト、ニンニク、ハーブ、スパイスを練り混ぜた

• バドリジャニ (Badrijani): 薄切りナスで、クルミのペーストをくるっと巻いた前菜

• チャーチヘラ (Churchkhela): 紐に通したクルミやヘーゼルナッツを、小麦粉でとろみをつけた葡萄の果汁に何度もくぐらせて乾燥させて作るジョージアの伝統的なお菓子

まだまだ食べてみたい料理がたくさん!
新しい食に出会うのが楽しみ! 😍✨

Although it’s been getting chilly in the mornings and evenings, the days have remained sunny and warm. Perfect for painting in the park! 🎨🖌️🌞
In fact, it was still almost like summer! 🌞 I’m so happy! 🧡

One day, a child greeted me with a "Annyeonghaseyo!" (hello in Korean), thinking maybe I was Korean and we ended up chatting in English. 💬✨
It turns out she and her friend absolutely love Korea! 💕
Before I knew it, I was surrounded by a whole group of kids. It was so much fun talking with them!

The weather isn't as warm today, 🌦️ and the temperatures will keep dropping from here on out.

I’m so glad I got to fully enjoy those lovely, crisp autumn days! 🌞🍁🍂

朝晩冷えて来たものの、日中はお天気が良く暖かい日が続いていたので公園でペイント🎨🖌️が気持ち良い🌞
というよりほぼ夏日でした🌞私は幸せ🧡

ある日は子供にアニョハセヨ〜と声をかけられ英語で会話💬✨
韓国が大好きなんだって💕
気づいたら他の子供達大勢に囲まれていてジョージアの子たちと楽しくお喋り

これを投稿している今日はお天気が崩れて🌦️これから気温もどんどん下がってくるだろうな

気持ち良い秋晴れを堪能できた日々でした🌞🍁🍂

The b**r is Löwenbräu from Germany 🇩🇪 Lowenbrau Georgia

Did you know that Germany has a b**r purity law (Reinheitsgebot) requiring that b**r is made using only four ingredients: malt, hops, water, and yeast? ☝️

I tried both the filtered and unfiltered versions, and ended up choosing the filtered one. It’s crisp, clean, and super refreshing! 🍺

Since I’m in Georgia 🇬🇪, instead of the usual sausages, I paired it with some classic grilled meat skewers called Mtsvadi 😋

It feels so wonderful out here under the sun! 💞 ✨

Honestly, as long as I’ve got the sun 🌞 and some delicious food 🍖, I couldn’t be any happier! 😊

Spent the night at Hamad International Airport in Doha 🇶🇦 during my layover between Seattle 🇺🇸 and Tbilisi 🇬🇪

The chicken biryani recommended by the server at Basta Qatar Basta Qatar inside the airport was so delicious 😋💕

I fell in love with the salt and pepper shakers dressed in traditional Arab attire❣️😍

I also tried some Arabic coffee; it was a yellow drink made with saffron, cardamom, and coffee beans, tasting more like tea than coffee ☕

I had a great time chatting with the incredibly friendly server. It was a delicious and fun dinner!

If you ever find yourself in Doha, you should definitely check it out 🤗

空港内のBasta Qatar Basta Qatar のサーバーkunがオススメしてくれたチキンビリヤニが美味😋💕

アラブの衣装をまとったソルト&ペッパーに❣️😍

試飲させてもらったアラビックコーヒーは、サフラン・カルダモン・コーヒー豆の黄色い飲み物で、コーヒーというよりお茶でした☕

めちゃくちゃフレンドリーなサーバーkunとお喋りも弾んで最高に美味し♡楽しいディナーでした!

After living in the U.S. for 15.5 years, I moved to a new place: Georgia ✈️

I knew absolutely nothing about the place or the country itself 🇬🇪

I decided to move just a couple days after it suddenly popped up as an option 💨

This all happened in March.
It was a plan that hadn't even crossed my mind at the start of the year 🤯
By July, I was in a country I'd barely known about four months prior.

It's amazing how much can change in just a few months!✨

Once I made the decision, things moved fast!

I’m documenting my new discoveries and experiences in this new land through travel journaling 📔🎨🖌️
