End of Summer Date Idea:
Montavilla Neighborhood

This summer we went and explored the Montavilla Neighborhood and had some great food and drinks while we were there.

1. Have dinner at Yaowarat: Thai/Chienes fusion food inspired by the food of Bangkok. The menu is small but mighty and everything we had was out of this world. Highly suggest the Chive Cakes, Crispy Bean Curd Dumplings, and Kuay Teow Kua G*i. Be sure to get a Thai Iced Tea and try out one of their unique cocktails. Reservations Recommended!
Check out the menu here: https://www.yaowaratpdx.com/

2. Grab a Drink at Arbor Hall (formerly The Vintage Bar)
Formerly the Vinatge Bar, Arbor Hall is just a few doors down from Yaowarat. Enjoy TIki Inspired drinks and a great atmosphere.

Check out the menu here: https://arborhallpdx.com/

3. Get a cupcake at Hungry Heart Bakery.
On the weekend, Hungry Heart Bakery has sweets from 12-6. Their bakery case looks amazing, and they even have some vegan sweets available too!
Check them out here: https://www.hungryheartpdx.com/ (https://www.hungryheartpdx.com/)

4. Catch a late night Movie
Portland has many historic movie theaters and the Montavilla neighorhood is home to the Academy Theater. They have a great selection of cult classics and new releases.

Summer Date Idea:
Spend the Day in
Hood River

Recently we went on a date day in Hood River, we had an amazing time.

Take advantage of the good weather while its here.

1. Have breakfast at Broder Ost: Delicious nordic Brunch located in the Hood River Hotel. Highly recommend the Swedish Hash and the Crispy Smashed Potatoes. The Danish Pancake also looked amazing!

You can find their menu here: https://www.brodereast.com/menus

2. Check out the Hood River Fruit Loop
The Fruit Loop is 30 different Farm Stands, Vineyards, Orchards, etc. that are located within a 30 minute drive of Hood River as you drive towards Mount Hood. We went to the Gorge White House and tried a flight of 8 of their ciders. Beautiful views of Mount Hood.

Check out the Fruit Loop Here:
https://www.hoodriverfruitloop.com/farmstands

3. Go to the Riverfront
Hood River has an amazing river front park with a great walking path. Walk along the river while you watch all the people kite boarding, foil boarding, and wind surfing. Grab a Shaved Ice at Benny's Shave Ice Cart. We suggest the Mount Hood Specialty. Find them on Instagram

4. Go to a Brewery
We love going to Pfriem and Ferment when we are in Hood River. Both have excellent beers and food. Ferment has a great outdoor patio, and a bunch of food carts right below them in the parking lot.

Check out the breweries here:

Seasonal Cocktail Recipe

This months cocktail is one of my favorite styles of cocktails, tiki, made with my favorite spirit, gin (NA alternative us DHOS Gin by Ransom). When navigating the world of tiki from home, things can get pretty intimidating and a bit expensive. A lot of them can be labor intensive or require a variety of ingredients. The Saturn however is about as easy and tasty of a tiki cocktail as you'll find.

INGREDIENTS
* 2 oz Gin ( I use Ransom Dry Gin)(NA alternative DHOS)
* .5 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
* .5 oz passion fruit syrup
* .25 oz falernum
* .25 oz Orgeat
* .25 pineapple juice
* GET FANCY > garnish with lemon twist and edible flower

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Add all ingredients to the blender along with ice (prefer crushed), blend.

2. Pour into a tiki mug or highball glass

3. Garnish and don't forget the little umbrella.

ENJOY!

Summer Side Dish Recipe
Corn, Squash, & Pablano

This is a cold Couscous salad that Meghan Makes frequently in the summer. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Juice of 1 lime
1 T butter
Queso Fresco or Cojito cheese
1 garlic clove
Salt & pepper
1 T chili powder
2 T olive oil

Cilantro (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Cook pearl couscous according to package, then set aside and cool.
2. Dice zucchini, pablano pepper, and Red Onion.
3. Saute zucchini and pablano pepper in butter until tender (I like to leave veggies with a little crunch). After veggies are cooked, add in salt,pepper and corn kernels. Cool for 3 -5 minutes. Cool.
4. For dressing combine vinegar, oil, garlic, lime juice, chili powder. Mix
5. Add together the couscous, veggies, and dressing.
