Over the course of twenty years in anesthesia, I’ve learned countless things that I wish I could share with providers new to anesthesia. Things that you learn as you go and cant read anywhere.

Over time, I did start writing these things down and adding notes in my phone. One of the professors asked me to compile these notes into a lecture. That annual lecture started as one hour and grew to three. All of this lived experience needed to be in a place that could be shared more widely and faster.

Two years ago, I began writing these notes as a book as well, but it quickly became clear that a book was impractical and would take too long to update.

Thus was born digital Unwritten Pearls of Anesthesia and what's not in the textbooks- yes, written online.

Here we go. I hope it helps. If not, no need to criticize just read and go. Like I tell trainees, you have an invisible bag of tricks and you get to decide what goes in it and what gets left behind when you go.

Unwritten Pearls of Anesthesia and What's not in the textbooks are places to share practical knowledge I would tell you if we were behind the drapes together — short, usable pearls drawn from real practice — so new providers in all anesthesia roles can access all of it anytime anywhere and hopefully share with others as well.

It’s time to start expanding this lecture and possibly take it on the road. What would you share with anesthesia colleagues that can’t be learned from a written format?
