One thing parents ask us a lot during newborn sessions is:
“Does my baby need to be fully asleep for the photos?” 🤍

Honestly — sleepy babies do make things easier 😅
They usually have a more peaceful expression, feel safer in poses, and don’t wiggle around as much.

But if baby doesn’t want to sleep? That’s completely okay too.

Newborns are tiny humans with their own feelings and personalities, and you can’t force them to “cooperate” for a photoshoot. Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen while we’re soothing them, holding them, or catching those little in-between expressions.

Every stage, every face, every tiny reaction is part of their story.
And those memories are worth keeping too ✨

Lynn and I always end up chatting with moms during sessions, and we hear this a lot—
“wow, the baby is so calm with you guys.” 🤍

Honestly, I don’t think there’s any magic to it.
We’ve photographed a lot of newborns, yes—but we’re also moms ourselves (both of us have two kids 😅).

I think it’s really just about slowing down, paying attention, and trying to understand what the baby needs in that moment.
Sometimes they’re hungry, sometimes they’re uncomfortable, sometimes they just want to be held a certain way.

Once they feel safe and settled, they just… relax.
And that’s when we get the soft, peaceful moments we love ✨
