Haiiii ! Time for a little rant 🫠
My name is Jillian and I am an esthetician out of Renton WA. I specialize and work mostly on corrective skincare treatments.

In 6th grade I got my first pimple and suffered from stinkin acne since.
My dedication to learning how to properly manage it has been my focus the last 6+ years since starting esthetics school and opening my own business, making it my purpose in life to helping others with their skin.

When dealing with acne, and the methods used to help fight it, will take time and consistency to get results. You’ve got to put in the work at home and in the treatment room. Doing a treatment here or there without the right, consistent home care will be pointless. You’ve got to trust the process and keep at it.

You also must understand that acne is a disease that cannot be cured. It can be managed. It’s not something someone just gets while dealing with puberty. It’s not an adolescent phase. It can be a lifelong battle because acneic simply just works differently compared to normal skin. But it CAN be treated and managed.

Currently accepting new clients. I am ready to get s**t done. And I’m here to help you do the same!

If there’s one thing I’m gonna do is be brutally honest. I can’t sugar coat s**t. It may be an overshare at times but everything has some kind of effect.
This year has been a roller coaster! And it took a toll on my skin, routine, everything. I feel like I’ve been mourning the person and life I used to be/have.
After having seemingly high up’s since esthetics school and getting my license 4 and a half years ago, there must come downs.. and this year was truly it! My lowest point I’ve been in since I think high school?
Since quitting drinking alcohol, a lot has surfaced. From a mood disorder diagnosis, to different medications, ~very~ bad eating habits, severe depression with suicidal ideation.. To say the least my skin, business and quality of life declined, a lot.
Things are looking better.. now I didn’t get a photo of my skin at its worst this year but you can see the difference.
What really messed me up was excess sugar, stress, different medications and poor skincare regimen with some days not doing anything with my skin at all.

The message here is after the downs will come ups, and it will take time. Like it has for me and many others that suffer from acne prone skin. Which can cause even more stress! It’s a hard disorder to tackle but it’s absolutely treatable.. not curable. But it CAN get better. 💜

I am accepting new clients. My policy has been updated. You can read it in my highlights on my IG page. To book an appointment click the link in bio.

Do you know how often you should be using an exfoliant? The answer is about 2-3 times per week! This number can vary depending on your skin type, the type of exfoliant you use, and the current state of your skin.

When we exfoliate, we gently slough off dead skin cells, increasing the rate of cell turnover. As we age, cell turnover slows down. Exfoliating combats acne, dehydration, signs of aging, and hyperpigmentation. It also helps your products to pe*****te your skin! Nearly every skin type will benefit from combining physical and chemical exfoliants.

While exfoliating has many benefits, it is possible to over/under-exfoliate which can hurt the appearance and health of your skin.

If you are currently over-exfoliating, I urge you to pause and allow your skin to heal. Utilize calming and thicker products.

If you're under-exfoliating and unsure where to begin, check out some of my old posts! Enzymes are always a great option as well.

As always, a skincare analysis from a licensed esthetician is a great way to start. As a corrective skincare specialist, I am always happy to help! Link in bio to book a facial with me :)

Happy Monday! Summertime has arrived in the PNW seemingly overnight, and when the season changes our skin needs can change as well.

Here are my top tips for skincare in the warmer months! Firstly, using a dedicated SPF & reapplying is my number one suggestion year round. Don't neglect your neck, decollete and the rest of your body! Reapplication can be done conveniently with a high SPF mineral powder, I like Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On Shield.

#2 tip is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Here in WA, we aren't as acclimated to the heat and it's important to maintain adequate hydration! Carry your water bottle with you always and enjoy eating foods with a high water content, such as watermelon! Experiment with facial mists containing hyaluronic acid or other humectants. SkinRecovery Mist by is an awesome choice.

Tip #3 is to modify your skincare routine. Check in with your skin: if your moisturizer that served you well in the winter months is causing issues, try using a water-based one.

#4 is a good tip for anyone who may get swept up in the excitement of summer activities. If you skip one night of your skincare routine, it can be easy to fall off track. If you resonate with this, ask a friend to do their routine with you! It will be easier to keep up the consistency if you have your products and support.

Last but not least, just because it's summer doesn't mean you can't target your skincare needs! In fact, having an appointment booked can be a great motivator to incorporate all of the above tips. During your appointment, your treatment will be fully customized to your individual skin care needs and we can discuss any questions you may have about your home care & how to achieve your goals.

If you made it to the end, thank you! Your skin will thank you as well. Drop a 🍉 in the comments if you're putting your skin first this summer 😀

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!!

Happy Star Wars day my lovely fellow nerds 💕💕💕

I love using my Pro during any facial. The benefits of RED, BLUE & INFRARED are utilized with their LED device.

Thanks to NASA and others - we have extensive research on RED + BLUE LED light!

Along with the anti inflammatory, acne bacteria killing, & skin cell rejuvenating benefits, it is also very relaxing to sit under the lights.
Have you tried LED therapy?
Here at Jillian L Skin we offer this service with most treatments 60min +!
