Most curlies can get beautiful, defined curls without ever needing to brush style and I would love to show you how.

At a first time appointment, I take extra time to teach you about your curls. It's one of my favorite type of appointments because I often get to hear guests say that they had no idea their hair was as curly as it is.

I love when they leave with a smile!

This might make some people mad, but the improvements that I've seen in scalp conditions and hair health when I have had some of my clients stop using a co-wash is unreal!

While a co-wash might be right for some, it's often not the right option for most.

When my guests come see me, this is something that I look at. Helping you find the right shampoo for your hair and scalp! Not many stylists will take the time to teach you about your curls, but I will.

What happens at a first time appointment with Monica at The Crafted Curl in Rexburg?

First time appointments are some of my very favorite appointments. I love hearing when guest tell me that their curls have never looked so good and they didn't know their hair was so curly.

-At a first time appointment, I spend some time getting to know all about your curls and your scalp healthy. Scalp health is so important for healthy curls.

-I take a hair history, asking about cutting frequency, at home washing and styling routine, things that you have found work well or that don't work well.

-Then comes the cut to compliment your curl pattern. You cut is customized to your curl type, styling preference and what will look best on you.

-At the shampoo bowl, I teach you all about how to properly wash your curls and how to know when you've found a conditioner that your curls love. I test different products so you don't have to buy a million things to try at home.

-For styling, I help you learn how to apply products and then I teach you how to dry your curls for optimal helath.

- We wrap things up by discussing refreshing your curls and how to sleep with them.

- Plan for about 2 hours for the whole process.

So, now you know what to expect! It's A LOT, but soooo worth it!!

How often should you get your curls cut? I usually recommend every 3-6 months. My guests with shorter hairstyles usually want to come in sooner for reshaping, but longer curls can typically go a few more months.

The shape I give curls usually allows the guest to go longer between cuts, as long as they have a good routine at home to help support curl health.
