Starting next year, New York will become the first state in the nation to require that private insurance companies cover scalp cooling for chemotherapy patients.

Scalp cooling, a treatment that helps preserve hair during chemotherapy, is pricey — the National Cancer Institute cites an average cost between $1,500 and $5,000 per patient. It is often not covered by insurance.

Cold capping works by lowering the temperature of the scalp before and during chemotherapy to restrict blood flow to hair follicles and reduce the amount of chemo that reaches them.

Cooling also slows down the activity of the hair follicle cells, making them less vulnerable to damage from chemotherapy drugs.

So many wonderful moments over the last few weeks! Italy never gets old and I can’t wait to be back. We got to end Rome with a cooking class with Cooking Classes In Rome and it was SO good! He also offers online classes and we will be hitting them up when we can’t make it the eternal city.

Exploring Venice in the rain and shine! We went to to explore the markets and came back so wet from the excursion we forgot to take a picture. If anyone knows our story, grocery shopping dates were a staple during basket ball season; so we had to go at least once while we are in Italy simply because it’s one of my favorite things to do with this good man. 😍
