Some of my favorite brushes and tools I use behind the chair.
Y’all always ask me about my flat irons, so I put both of them in here. The dryer, the brushes, the little comb everybody sleeps on, all of it. This is what I actually reach for in the salon.

It’s not just the tools though, it’s knowing what to do with them. But that’s a whole other conversation.

3 product mistakes I keep seeing, said with love. let’s fix these today.

1. Design Essentials Oat Protein & Henna Deep Cleansing Shampoo. if you’ve never heard of clarifying shampoo, hi, welcome. it’s just a deep clean for all the buildup sitting on your hair. before your silk press, or once a month. scrub that scalp, rinse good, then follow it immediately with a hydrating shampoo. that step is mandatory, don’t skip it lol. squeaky is normal, don’t panic lol.

2. Matrix Mega Sleek 96H Anti Frizz Topcoat. I hear “oh I didn’t know I’m supposed to use it this way” all the time lol. so listen: this goes on DAMP hair, not dry hair right before the flat iron. it’s not a flat iron spray. shake it well, up to 5 pumps, mid lengths to ends (it’s concentrated, a little goes a long way). fair warning: it smells a little funky straight out the bottle. emulsify it in your palms first and it goes away, that’s normal lol. then finish with heat to activate it. read the bottle, follow the bottle, literally.

3. Amika The Shield. no heat? then there’s no shield. this one’s heat activated bestie. mist it on dry OR damn hair and let the heat turn it on. spraying it and walking out the door does nothing lol.
moral of the story: read the bottle. follow the bottle. literally.
