From eyeballs and dinosaurs to a tropical happy hour, our Ambulatory Surgery Center team got creative for this year's pumpkin decorating contest!

And there's more than bragging rights on the line! The winning entry will receive tickets to Winter Wonderland at CarMax Park!

While the campaign doesn't 'officially' launch for a few weeks, we wanted to take a moment to thank VEI for their unwavering commitment to Conexus and our mission to remove poor vision as a barrier to a child's success in life; and this includes ensuring that ALL children have the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the season of lights across RVA.

🎨 VEI Artists of the Month: James River Art League

This month, we’re featuring , a nonprofit made up of more than 150 juried artists from across Central Virginia.

JRAL brings artists together through exhibitions, educational programs, and opportunities to connect with the local art community. They also host programs featuring talented artists and art professionals, helping keep the visual arts thriving throughout the Richmond area.

We’re happy to shine a light on an organization that gives local artists a place to share their work and connect with the community.

50 years of VEI! 💙

Last week, we celebrated a milestone five decades in the making with our providers, associates and patients across Virginia Eye Institute.

Our teams celebrated with cakes, catered lunches, 50th anniversary T-shirts and plenty of VEI swag, while our patients joined the fun with special giveaways, coloring books, trivia and prizes throughout the week.

And we had one extra reason to celebrate: Dr. Jacobs celebrated his 50th birthday on the very same day VEI celebrated our 50th anniversary. Happy birthday, Dr. Jacobs!

Thank you to our incredible physicians and associates, past and present, who have helped shape VEI over the last 50 years. And most importantly, thank you to the generations of patients who have trusted us with their vision and allowed us to be part of their lives.

We’re so grateful to celebrate 50 years with the community that made it possible, and we’re looking forward to everything still to come.

Virginia Eye Institute turns 50! 🎉

In 1976, Virginia Eye Institute began with a vision for what eye care in our community could be. Fifty years later, that vision has grown into something bigger than we could have imagined.

Generations of patients have trusted us with their sight. Providers and associates have built careers here. Families have referred families. And through every new location, advancement and chapter, our commitment to caring for our community has remained at the heart of who we are.

We’ll be celebrating all year long by sharing stories from the patients, providers and associates who have shaped VEI over the last five decades, along with pieces of our history and plenty of fun along the way.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ellis to Virginia Eye Institute.

Before beginning her career in optometry, Dr. Ellis proudly served in the United States Army. She later graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alaska Anchorage, earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry, and completed residency training in Ocular Disease at the Memphis VA Medical Center.

Dr. Ellis is passionate about providing compassionate, comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, and we’re excited to have her join the VEI team.
